Elbow is fine for blood draws, but not for IVs of any duration - normal flexion occludes them. Sometimes, the best veins are in a hand, especially with the fat or elderly.

Ya gotta let some of that "news" sink in to get the perspective. Presidents and their staffs work hard to control the public image, some more than others, and Trump isn't the only one who had stuff to hide. For much of his time in office a lot of people didn't know that FDR was in a wheelchair. Reagan's people (and wife) kept him propped up like Bernie and before the Greek chorus chimes in with b-b-but whuddabout Biden, his appearances were pretty well controlled also, though some would say not good enough. JFK had serious back issues, and Clinton couldn't hear well.

Anyway, Trump works harder than most to control his image and when there's as much documentation of poor health as there is - in spite of their efforts - you know the dude is not well at all. All the bruises, the cankles, the stumbling, the babbling - and that's just what the public manages to see. Imagine what he's like when no cameras are around.
