True that. But the ironic part is that before 9/11 borders were much more "open" than any time since. When I was working for La Raza, the crossings in South Texas did not require a passport (either way) and were pretty much wave 'n go with a drivers license. There was a customs stop about 50 miles in, but still no big deal. They did make an effort to stop suspicious looking drug mules, but their biggest bust at the time was sheer luck. Camper was stopped, inspected, and cleared. As the driver was backing to turn, he hit a pole and a bunch of bags came out the side. But crossings at non official places weren't controversial, either, pretty much all along the Big Bend. Canada the same way. No passport required.

Things everywhere changed after 9/11. Can't have those Meskins coming into the country and flying planes into our building. Oh wait. Can't have those Arabs sneaking in like wetbacks to blow up our buildings. Oh wait.

Anyway, 25 years after 9/11, people don't know the difference in ILLEGAL and asylum applicants, have no idea that most ILLEGALS don't get in by way of sneaking across the Mexican border. Have no idea what the actual current law is, have no idea how many people were deported during the "open borders" of Obama and Biden, have not a clue as to what actual rights immigrants (ILLEGAL or not) have or how those rights are violated every day now. But sure, let's go beat up on some Brown people. That'll fix it.

True, but this "investigation" is over the restoration of the Fed buildings and testimony about it. Tbh the price tag does seem extreme, but I'm not diving deep enough into it to form an educated opinion. That's the DonOLD effect - you know you're never going to get a true story, anyhow.
