I'm sure no one would dare to tell numbnuts that both of these numbers are a direct correlation to reduced imports from his tariffs as well as the GDP hasn't been a complete number .

No one with a brain believes federal numbers on anything anymore - tariffs, employment, deficit, LEOs, immigration, economy, pollution, AGW and sea level rise, windmills and Israeli birdlife, crypto, ballroom, golf scores, mentions in the Epstein files and so on.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 8:03 pmI'm sure no one would dare to tell numbnuts that both of these numbers are a direct correlation to reduced imports from his tariffs as well as the GDP hasn't been a complete number .

Orwell was way wiser than even his fans could know at the time. Back during Reagan's first term, we used to say "1984 is just 2 years away" but little did we know that was no exaggeration - just took a little longer to get here.
Does this sound like our reality of 2026?
"The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it"
On reality: "Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else".
On control of the past: "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past".
On the Party's manipulation: "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command".
On the consequences of deceit: "In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act".

Many many people will say they do not agree with this approach while tacitly or enthusiastically agreeing with this approach.

Yeah we're absolutely in a post truth era. I remember when that term was first being thrown around in ~2016. Between AI, social media, bot canvassing, and acceptance of outright incessant lying (see almost any Trump tweet), it's here. Reality is whatever you want it to be. Thing is though, that man-made reality is a house of cards that can come crashing down at any time.O Really wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 10:49 amOrwell was way wiser than even his fans could know at the time. Trump Says Credit Card Firms Violate Law If Rates Not Capped
The devil may be in the details, but I approve in principle. Did MAGA know they were voting for yet another "socialist" intrusion on private business choices? They're "free market" adherents, aren't they? Maybe this could have gone in leopard thread, but I'm not sure DonOLD ever revealed that he's a selectively leftist authoritarian during the campaign.

While the interest credit card companies charge are outrageous the government has no place getting involved. It is a difficult situation. Much of the problem comes from individuals not paying their bills and the credit cards companies riding down the street throwing cards out to anyone who finds them.Vrede too wrote: ↑Mon Jan 12, 2026 10:58 amIsn't it crashing down already?Whack9 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 9:02 amYeah we're absolutely in a post truth era. I guess we'll all be eating grass and tree bark before long.....trump is trying to get rid of the Fed chair and I think he wants to install that impish clown Kevin Hassett. He's one of the few who agree with trump that foreign countries pay trump's tariffs. Kevin will be as good a Fed chair as the bum at the corner passed out with a bottle of wine, half of which is spilled on his pants.

Anthony Scaramucci thinks Trump’s ‘hard-left’ move to cap credit-card fees is because he’s ‘texting back and forth with Mayor Mamdani’
As we said:... Trump, however, has shown little hesitation in embracing populist policies that unsettle the business community. His second term has been marked by unusually direct executive intervention in markets, often to the discomfort of corporate America.
Joining Scaramucci was veteran Republican strategist Stuart Stevens, former campaign advisor to Mitt Romney, who argued the proposal is a symptom of a larger identity crisis within the GOP. Stevens asserted there is essentially “no conservative party in America today,” noting the party has traded ideological philosophy for a series of “marketing slogans.”
To Stevens, it was “darkly hysterical” the Republican Party opposes Mamdani’s ascension so much while Trump’s own policies look more classically socialist, first in taking a direct stake in semiconductor champion Intel and now in proposing a cap on interest rates.
“Your socialism is not as good as our socialism,” Stevens said, highlighting what he views as a hypocritical shift toward big-government interventionism.

Go figure. Are we witnessing the death of "conservative" economic ideology? Maybe obsession with gender and sex, along with White supremacy are all that's left to being a "conservative".

I wonder if anyone has the balls to tell numbnuts that being the biggest kid on the block doesn't mean you're bigger than the whole neighborhood.
The world is going to move on without us, DonOLD will scream, cry, threaten more TACO tariffs and declare he won't protect anyone.
And we'll be on an island.
In rebuff to Trump, EU and India announce the 'mother of all deals'
All the biggest trade deals so far in 2026 don't involve the US

Trump nominates Kevin Warsh for new Fed Chairman.
Seems like this is actually a reasonable pick from what I've read. He's a former Fed Governor so he has experience. He's more likely to maintain the Fed's independence as opposed to other possible picks (Hassett).

Yeah, I was worried he'd put Hassett in. That clown is the Sean Spicer of economics. I would also get wobbly thinking that he might even put Peter Navarro in as Fed chairman. Especially considering Peter has never been right about anything.Whack9 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 30, 2026 8:05 amTrump nominates Kevin Warsh for new Fed Chairman.

So the "illegals" were working and not soaking up welfare benefits. Glad you're finally admitting that, Peter.Yep
Wait, are you telling me actions have consequences?
So basically it's gonna be a shitty month even with their doctoring.
Next: "We have to revise our expectations up significantly for what a gallon of milk should cost. Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the construction/meat packing/dairy farming/food production/service industry/every industry industry"
