Boycotts
What is your personal stance on boycotts?
I am asking because a lot of lefty-libbies are crying about Paramount's apparent win to purchase Warner Bros. These leftists claim Paramount will inject a more right-wing influence on WB's properties everything from movies to comic books. They are going so far as to say they will stop buying DC Comics.
Personally, I find the idea of boycotting things simply because of politics to be silly. I am not going to deprive myself of things I enjoy just because they slant a certain way.
For example, John Mellencamp is a hard-core liberal. But I happen to love his songs. Why should I deprive myself of his music? Another example: I don't not watch WWE even though their management is supposedly MAGA. Politics has nothing to do with it. I simply don't enjoy their product.

Re: Boycotts
In theory I'm pro boycott, it's an effective nonviolent way to protest and oftentimes successful.
Last year when Kimmel was suspended I, along with millions of others canceled ny Disney subscription. They relented pretty quickly.
In practice, in today's world it's often impractical. I would love to boycott AT&T, Verizon, Lowe's, Prime, Apple, Microsoft amongst others but often it's too impractical.
I don't shop Walmart, Home Depot, Spotify, Amazon, American Eagle and quite a few more.

I haven't heard of a Paramount/Warner Bros boycott, but many boycotts are successful in changing corporate policy. For example, just the threat of boycotts got Disney/ABC to back off the Suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in September. (
Then, righty-MAGAts claim boycotts all the time, but they mostly suck at it. It takes organization to win, not just whining about something a team doesn't like.

Well, conservatives can claim victory in boycotting Budweiser after they featured that tranny..
But again, it's very self-defeating to me. If I love drinking Bud beer, I'm not going to stop simply because of a commercial.
Life is to short to deprive yourself of things you enjoy

I like the concept of boycotts in principle, but agree that most aren't that effective. I do tend to avoid spending money that goes indirectly to places I disapprove of, but IRL it's hard to make it absolute.

Did they win? Did Bud apologize or reject LGBTQ in any way?
I bought a solidarity case of Bud Light that I'm still working on. I hardly ever drink, let alone Bud.But again, it's very self-defeating to me. If I love drinking Bud beer, I'm not going to stop simply because of a commercial.

Well, Bud saw a pretty big sales decline, Bud fired several marketing execs and I doubt you'll ever see trannies in their commercials anymore.Vrede too wrote: ↑Thu Feb 26, 2026 11:34 pmDid they win? But that is besides the point. I am discussing boycotts in general. I, for one, refuse to allow politics to interfere with my enjoyment. I purchase from Amazon, I watch Marvel.movies, I listen to the Eagles, etc.

I don't watch Steven Seagal movies, but they mostly suck, anyhow.

I agree boycotts are generally non-effective. The benefit I see is just personal satisfaction. For instance, I choose not to buy Smithfield meat products because they are owned by the ChiComs. Smithfield could care less.

Re: Boycotts
Ditto.
It makes me sad that J. K. Rowling chose to be a rabid and hateful anti-trans activist. I believe there's a boycott of Harry Potter books and films, but I don't think it's been very effective.
No organized boycott that I'm aware of, but I shun Hailey Dean Mysteries TV movies, which I initially thought were decent. I learned that they're based on characters from Nancy Grace novels. She's also a scriptwriter and has occasional cameos. I have not been able to stand her for decades.
I don't want to help with residuals for either, whatever others are doing.

It's really not a major product line for most non-Hispanic people. As to those thousands of employees hired, "many of them Latino," let's browse through the listings that pop up with a cursory visit to Google "Goya labor relations."

Goya doesn’t publicly disclose financial earnings so it’s unclear what impact Unanue’s comments had on the company. But a source who spoke with CNN Business said the comments “imperiled the future of the company” and that “sales growth is less than it was” before his comments. The Goya "bean counters" are not pleased.

Goya Foods CEO Bob Unanue Announces Departure From Family Business
To buy Goya products now or not,‘This is a family issue’: Allegations are flying behind the scenes at Goya Foods
Earlier this week, the controversial former boss of Goya Foods self-published a mysterious press release about his departure from the company. Robert “Bob” Unanue said that after nearly five decades at the family business, he was suddenly informed that his “employment” at the company was over and he had “no real answers” as to why, noting Goya did not publicly indicate he was no longer leading the company.
... a lawsuit filed in Bergen County, New Jersey Superior Court by Bob Unanue’s cousin and Goya executive and board member Francisco “Frankie” Unanue on February 5 alleges that Bob Unanue engaged in a “clandestine agreement” that permitted the “looting” of Goya and thereafter “colluded” with a long-time friend to “perpetrate and/or cover up the resulting damage to Goya.”
... The lawsuit alleges that for nearly a decade, Bob Unanue failed to supervise his “decades-long friend” and hand-picked head of the company’s IT department, Suvajit Basu. Bob entered into a “clandestine agreement” to hire Basu for five years without the knowledge of the board, the lawsuit alleges, and “enabled, aided and abetted Basu,” which led to vulnerabilities in the IT structure, three full system shutdowns within a year and millions of dollars of misused funds.
... The inner workings of the nation’s largest Hispanic-owned food company are rarely publicized due to the dynamics of the family-controlled company and the fact that the company is private, not publicly owned....
