Iran War

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Houston, we have a problem.

:laughing-rolling:
Here are all the contradictions, lies, and backtracks that Trump made in just ONE HOUR of blabbing to the media:

12:03 PM: Trump says he wanted a ceasefire with Iran.

12:05 PM: Trump declares victory against Iran.

12:07 PM: Trump says he’s sending Marines against
Iran.
12:08 PM: Trump says no boots on the ground.

12:11 PM: Trump says he does not want a ceasefire.

12:16 PM: Trump declares victory again.

12:17 PM: Trump asks for a ceasefire with Iran.

12:23 PM: Trump says NATO are cowards for not helping him.

12:29 PM: Trump says Iran is begging for a ceasefire.

12:31 PM: Trump says everything is “perfect.”

12:36 PM: Trump says $500-a-barrel oil is a good thing.

12:37 PM: Trump demands Iran open the Straits of Hormuz.

12:39 PM: Trump says the Straits were never closed.

12:41 PM: Trump says the US is not at war with Iran.

12:42 PM: Trump declares victory against Iran again.

It could not be more obvious that he does not have any kind of grasp on reality, and he needs to be removed from office by 25th Amendment ASAP.

We cannot let this man be left in charge of a war with thousands of lives on the line. He has no idea what is going on, has no plan to resolve it, and can't even stick to his own lies for more than ten minutes.

Oil futures are down significantly on news that Trump is in negotiations with Iran. Iran responds that he's only negotiating with himself. Oil prices remain down. Early Monday morning before the market opened there were reports of a huge, isolated, spike in futures trading in the S&P.

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/23/volume- ... -post.html
S&P 500 futures and oil futures flashed an unusual burst of activity early Monday minutes before a market-moving social media post from President Donald Trump.

At around 6:50 a.m. in New York, S&P 500 e-Mini futures trading on the CME recorded a sharp and isolated jump in volume, breaking from an otherwise subdued premarket backdrop. With thin liquidity typical of early trading hours, the sudden burst stood out as one of the largest volume moments of the session up to that point.

A similar pattern was observed in oil markets. West Texas Intermediate May futures also saw a noticeable pickup in trading activity at roughly the same time, with a distinct volume spike interrupting otherwise quiet conditions.

The timing of the earlier volume spikes across both equities and crude caught the attention of traders, particularly given the absence of an obvious catalyst at the moment they occurred.

Early-morning futures markets are typically less liquid, which can make short bursts of buying and selling more noticeable than during regular trading hours. Still, the trades raised some eyebrows because whoever purchased a large amount of stock futures and sold or shorted crude futures at that moment made a lot of money just minutes later.
Wonder if there's going to be a big sell off Friday, then come Saturday an announcement of increasing hostilities against Iran. An airborne army unit is on its way to the region. Several thousand Marines as well.

Iran continuously confirms they are totally irrational Islamist. The very reason they cannot be allowed a nuke.

You do realize that they weren't close to having a nuke and there was no imminent threat.

Nuttyyahoo has been claiming for 30 years they were weeks away from having one.

Simply not true.

Y'know, in most instances I would agree to at least the first part of that statement. Rigidly following most any religion is by definition irrational, and the more extreme branches of Islam and Christianity clearly demonstrate that. But in this particular case, I'd say the actions of Iran in the face of being attacked in an attempt to "obliterate" them and "kill the leaders" is more rational than the actions of the attacker.

IMO Deceiver Don has already decided for a limited invasion, one that he hopes will decapitate remaining leadership and the IRG, along with inspiring anti-Islamists. -0-? , but this is a lot like how Vietnam started.

Still trying to figure out how they're going to get in there and supply them, certainly not by sea.

What's the objective? Kharg Island? Pretty sure we're not going to surround them.

Seems like anything more than commando raids is destined for disaster and the same logistical nightmare applies.

Well, I don't personally know one way or the other, but I can't imagine the Iranian rep has any more credibility than the US President*, which is nil.

People can argue over whether Iran had or was getting nuclear weapons, and of course there's a difference in "having" nuclear weapons and actually using them since the US is the only country to have used them and North Korea is at least as crazy as Trump and the unknown Ayatolla are yet nobody seems to be yelling to invade them.

But what can't be argued over is that the invasion of Iran - whether for good cause or not - was poorly planned, with poor or ignored intelligence, and no overall strategy. For that and that alone, many if not most countries would depose their leader.

IF Iran was "close" to having a nuke it's only because TRE45QN foolishly withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a monitored and inspected deal which would have prevented an Iranian nuke until at least 2031. Thanks, Obama  . The cost of the INTERNATIONAL sanctions and subsequent negotiations were negligible compared to what the Deceiver in Chief has flushed in just a month. Thanks, MAGA  .

Trump is super duper serious and he's totally not making anything up!

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/26/trump-i ... tions.html
U.S. President Donald Trump has told Iran to “get serious soon” about a peace deal with Washington, or face the consequences.

“They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!,” he posted on Truth Social early Thursday.

The president described Iranian negotiators as “very different” and “strange” and said they were “begging” the U.S. to make a deal to end the war that has raged for almost four weeks.

Trump's comments come after contradictory statements from Washington and Tehran regarding the status of peace talks. The U.S. has said talks over a proposed peace plan have been taking place, while Iran denies any direct interaction with Washington.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly told state media on Wednesday that officials were reviewing an American proposal to end the war, but said Tehran had no intention of having talks with the U.S.

He added that an exchange of messages between the two countries through mediators "does not mean negotiations with the U.S.," Reuters reported.

In his Truth Social post, Trump hit back at Iranian comments on the matter, saying the country had been "militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback."

"Yet they publicly state that they are only 'looking at our proposal.' WRONG!!!" the president said
Trump was at least mostly surrounded by functioning adults and professionals during his first term. Not so much anymore. Add in the stark decline of his mental faculties. Complete chaos. Classic Trump.
