It's that time for a DDOS attack again

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

It's that time for a DDOS attack again

Aware of it. I scaled the server up as a temporary measure until I can get off work (May or may not work), get the grass mowed and settle in for from ip address banning.

Darn, I saw the Subject and thought that you were organizing us to attack someone else.

Who's messing with us this time?

Maybe a phpBB issue?

I see CPF has it going too.

Nah, I was watching the webserver logs and they were a scrolling at warp speed. Seems like the DDOS has stopped. I'm going to down scale, but may not be able to block anyone because they're not currently doing it.

Site was fine for me Fri and Sat, thanks. However, it's slow this evening. :(

Alright, I went on a ban spree during my lunch while it was happening, The load is coming down a lot from what it was and the site is getting more responsive.

Usually they're located on a certain IP range and it's fairly easy to ban them. This is coming from so many different IP addresses it's more challenging.

Just lucky I guess. I kinda suspect at least some of them are unadvertised AI crawler bots or search engine bots -- but then some of them do try to post messages too.

Hm.... most of them I'm checking are from China. Some from "Private Residence in china", others from "hosting providers" in china.... I do expect most of it to come from hosting providers, the private residences is interesting.

Ok.... after looking at it for an hour more.... most of them are China mobile. Doesn't really have to mean it's coming from cell phones... but interesting.

Can you put up a virtual banner explaining that we're no fans of tariffs or Dementia Don?

Or, should we blame SoupySales?
