You got me on that....don't know what I was thinking or reading. Hell, I could have been agonizing over Useless's koi pond or his vintage van. But I do remember the Panthers and Huey Newton and Fred Hampton. I remember the Diggers out in the bay area, the Merry Pranksters, and pretty much everything that happened after that...like when Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix all died in the span of little more than a year. And I really remember Kent State. Oh, forgot to mention Manson.....I was fascinated with Leslie van Houten and wondered how Charlie did it.
I saw Stokely Carmichael speak to a no nukes rally in Denver a decade later. One of the very few public speakers that didn't bore me.

* A proposed bill from Republican Rep. Chip Roy aims to denaturalize U.S. citizens affiliated with socialist or communist groups, including Democratic Socialists of America members like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
* The bill, named the MAMDANI Act, would target individuals based on their political ideologies, echoing President Trump's denaturalization efforts and threatening the citizenship of tens of thousands of people.
* Roy's bill broadly implicates any group discussing socialism, communism, or Marxism, sparking concerns of a return to Red Scare-era laws and fueling right-wing Islamophobia in response to Mamdani's socialist views.
