There is a growing number of US members of Congress pushing for sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell to be pardoned, a top Republican has said.
House Oversight Committee chair James Comer was asked if it would be worthwhile to offer Maxwell a pardon in exchange for her testimony.
"A lot of people do," Comer told Politico.

My committee's split on that. I don't speak for my committee."
He pointed out that he was not in support of a pardon.
While Maxwell was heavily involved in sex crimes, it is believed her testimony would expose other pedophiles connected to her partner Jeffrey Epstein.
Comer's Democratic counterpart Robert Garcia issued a statement decrying the idea.
"It's outrageous that Republicans on the Oversight Committee are considering a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell," he said

A former inmate at Ghislaine Maxwell’s cushy prison camp says she was recently booted to a high-security prison—hours after an article came out in which she spoke out against Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirator.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, 44-year-old Julie Howell gave an interview to a British newspaper in which she said that she was “disgusted” by Maxwell’s transfer to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan,

Hours after the story ran on August 4, prison warden Tanisha Hall called Howell into her office and told her she was being transferred to the high-security Federal Detention Center in Houston.

Howell is serving a one-year sentence for theft after she admitted to stealing from her former employer.

She was sentenced in June and had served just a few weeks at the Bryan camp—which has been referred to as a “Real Housewives prison” for its lax rules and cozy accommodations—before she found herself in the warden’s crosshairs for her comments about Maxwell.

Maxwell was transferred to the facility unexpectedly on Aug. 1 about a week after Deputy Attorney General and Trump’s former personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, spent nine hours interviewing her in Florida over two days.

Prior to her transfer, which required the federal Bureau of Prisons to issue an unprecedented waiver due to her status as a violent offender, she was serving her 20-year sentence for sex trafficking at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee

New Mexico truth commission approves subpoenas, isn’t letting Epstein fade
Investigators looking for information about Epstein’s activities in the state are moving forward despite Trump administration officials’ stated preference to move on.

... The Santa Fe New Mexican previously reported on files released by the DOJ that showed a donation of hundreds of thousands of dollars by Epstein to the Santa Fe Institute, a scientific research and education center. The institute’s president told the New Mexican in February that an audit of Epstein’s donations exists (though he didn’t provide it), and he reportedly didn’t respond to the outlet’s request for comment after the subpoena list was announced.

The commission is conducting its work at the same time as the New Mexico Department of Justice conducts its own probe of Epstein’s activities at the ranch.

New Mexico’s Democratic-controlled Legislature launched the truth commission in February after the release of some Epstein-related files that included allegations that the bodies of two women were buried near Epstein’s New Mexico ranch, which he reportedly saw as a prime location for a plot to “seed” the human race with his DNA....
