Phil Mickelson, once one of America's most popular and notable athletes, has been accused of inappropriate conduct at a San Diego area golf club, and has been removed from the club, according to a report in Golf Digest.

Mickelson is no longer a member of The Farms Golf Club near San Diego, according to Golf Digest, after an alleged incident this past spring. A female employee accused Mickelson of, in Golf Digest's words, "nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact" prior to a round. The employee reported the incident to supervisors, according to the report, and club officials confronted Mickelson in the middle of his golf round. He was asked to leave and departed the club before finishing his round, per the report....

The arc of Mickelson's career has been strange and fascinating. Once the game's most popular player and a favorite in the gallery, the six-time major winner's presence and aura have diminished significantly in the wake of his 2022 defection to LIV Golf. While he still plays in the majors where he's eligible, he's virtually invisible, walking with small galleries. He's missed the cut at nine of the 14 majors he's played since joining LIV, including three of four last year.

I don't know him personally, of course, but I was generally a fan back in the day. However, he fell out of my favor a few years ago when he was whining about taxes and "threatening" to move to Texas or somewhere. Now, he's not the only one voicing a similar whine, but consider:
Mickelson has LOTS of money, resulting from a very successful career and side enterprises; he lives in Rancho Santa Fe, one of the most expensive and exclusive enclaves in the country, with median home prices north of $5 mill and his home (I think) in mid-twenty $mill. But also, he grew up here and benefitted from all the (expensive) advantages. So now he's a the top of the stack and does he talk about "giving back" or whatever? Nope. He's whining about taxes, and property taxes in particular which in his case would be about $300K/year. But why so high? California property tax rate is relatively low, capped at about 1%. His bill is high because he lives in a 25 million dollar estate. Anywhere he moved in Texas would actually be higher. So he's not only not appreciative of the advantages he's had and trashing a place that has treated him well, he's just stupid to boot.

He is successfully working very hard to ruin his legacy. The way he left the PGA Tour for LIV was not helpful to him with fans.

There are some proven, good players on the leader board. However, your post points out the challenge of the PGA tour in 2026. It is devoid of "star" players.

Fans of Scottie Sheffler and his 20-win, 4 majors record might disagree with you guys. But as we've mentioned before, there's lots of skill, but very little personality in golf now. Seems they rarely even wear anything to distinguish them from the others. No Tiger red shirt, Gary Player black, Payne Stewart knicks, John Daley being John Daley. Mostly clones with the same speeches after a game, and then disappear into the mist until the next tournament.

So American Scheffler and Norwegian Hoveland were tied going into the 18th. I generally like Scheffler and don't know too much about Hoveland but the crowd starts that USA USA USA crap, so I ended up pulling for a Norwegian that lives in Oklahoma.
