Today:
U.S. soldier involved in Maduro raid charged with betting on the operation
The special forces soldier allegedly made more than $400,000 on Polymarket as a result of the bets, prosecutors say.

... The soldier was identified as Gannon Ken Van Dyke in a news release announcing the indictment.

... Van Dyke was charged with “unlawful use of confidential government information for personal gain, theft of nonpublic government information, commodities fraud, wire fraud, and making an unlawful monetary transaction.”

“The charges arise from an alleged scheme in which Van Dyke used sensitive classified information to make wagers on Polymarket,” the statement from the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York said.

In a statement, prediction site Polymarket said, "When we identified a user trading on classified government information, we referred the matter to the DOJ & cooperated with their investigation."

Well-timed bets on Polymarket tied to the Iran war draw calls for investigations from lawmakers

These were the sole bets made on Polymarket through these accounts....

Comey is indicted, again. The 86 47 "threat" was made especially silly by having been written in cute seashells. Lawrence O'Donnell calls it "the most childish indictment he's ever heard of." Filed in NC since that's where the beach was. Sorry  . To me 86 has always been used in reference to removal from a bar, with or without violence. I guess I threaten Moron Don with every post. Opps. Hey cons, report me to the FBI, please.

Alex Murdaugh's murder convictions overturned in South Carolina Supreme Court ruling

Prosecutors said they plan to retry disgraced lawyer Alex Murdaugh on murder charges in the shooting deaths of his wife and younger son after the state Supreme Court on Wednesday overturned his conviction and life sentence.

... In a unanimous ruling Wednesday, the South Carolina Supreme Court said the conduct by the court clerk "egregiously attacked Murdaugh's credibility" by suggesting to jurors his testimony could not be trusted. They also said the trial judge went too far in allowing evidence of Murdaugh's financial crimes into his murder trial....

ICE officer wanted in the shooting of a man during the Minneapolis crackdown is arrested in Texas

A federal immigration officer wanted in the shooting of a Venezuelan man during the Trump administration’s Minnesota crackdown was arrested Friday in Texas, authorities said.

Christian Castro, of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, was taken into custody 11 days after Minneapolis prosecutors charged him with assault and falsely reporting a crime in the Jan. 14 nonfatal shooting of Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis.
11 days? The coward should have turned himself in.
... Castro is the second federal agent to be charged over their conduct during the Minnesota crackdown, which was known as Operation Metro Surge. He is one of two agents that ICE Director Todd Lyons said lied about the circumstances of the incident.

According to prosecutors, Castro fired through a home’s front door and shot Sosa-Celis in the thigh after Castro and another officer chased a different man, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna, to the Minneapolis apartment duplex where he and Sosa-Celis lived. Sosa-Celis and Aljorna were legally in the U.S., (Hennepin County Attorney Mary) Moriarty said.
"legally in the U.S." Opps.
Federal authorities initially accused Sosa-Celis and Aljorna of beating an officer with a broom handle and a snow shovel. A federal judge later dismissed the charges, and ICE and the Justice Department opened an investigation into whether the officers lied about what happened.
Dock their pay, negate their pensions, fire them and lock them up!
... Moriarty’s office last month charged immigration agent Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr. with assault for allegedly pointing his gun at people in a car on a highway. He turned himself in last week, and his lawyer disputes the charges.

The county is also investigating Good’s and Pretti’s killings and sued the Trump administration in March to gain access to evidence in those cases and the Sosa-Celis shooting.

Chuck Wright, former Spartanburg county sherrif, sentenced

https://www.wyff4.com/article/chuck-wri ... n/71849420
GREENVILLE, S.C. —
Former Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright was sentenced to 41 months in prison on Tuesday, months after he pleaded guilty to federal crimes.

Wright will serve at least 85% of that 3 year and nearly 5 month sentence, according to United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina, Bryan Stirling.

He will also have to pay restitution of more than $462,000, some of which he has already paid.

The judge sentenced Wright to federal prison for the following charges:

Two conspiracy charges for wire fraud and stealing from programs receiving federal funds
One charge of obtaining controlled substances through misrepresentation.

...

Court documents allege Wright embezzled thousands in public funds, misused county-issued credit cards, and drained a benevolence fund meant to assist deputies facing financial hardship

...

Court documents show Wright charged more than $16,400 to the county credit card over four years, including $1,200 at convenience stores, $1,200 on fast food, $4,000 at restaurants, and $4,500 at retail stores.

Prosecutors also revealed Wright wrote a $1,000 check to an opioid dealer from a benevolence fund.

Evidence also shows Wright used county funds to pay penalties for exceeding his credit limit at the bank, with incidents occurring once in 2022, four times in 2023, and once in 2024.

... The lawsuit says Allen suffered bone fractures, facial injuries, partial vision loss, permanent head and facial disfigurement, severe pain, and emotional distress. The complaint states that he required more than 40 days of "surgery, rehabilitation, therapy and extended follow-up treatment."
 :(
... Beyond the allegations of excessive force, Allen was charged with two counts of resisting an officer, but he was found not guilty on both charges.

Woman who was 9 months pregnant punched in face by Arizona police officer: prosecutors

An Arizona police officer was charged with aggravated assault for punching a woman who was 9 months pregnant, according to prosecutors.

A probable cause statement shared by NPR notes that Officer Carri Carrico, of the Buckeye Police Department, was indicted by a grand jury after an independent investigation by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Buckeye Police Chief Robert Sanders requested the outside investigation earlier this year after concerns arose about two use-of-force incidents involving people in custody, according to the documents.

The alleged assault happened on Nov. 1, 2025, after Carrico arrested a woman who was 37 weeks pregnant on suspicion of reckless driving, per the documents.

Prosecutors said surveillance and body-camera video show Carrico punched the woman in the face while the woman was handcuffed behind her back and being restrained to a booking bench. Investigators said there was "no indication" the woman tried to assault the officer, nor did she pose an imminent danger when she was hit.

A separate assault allegedly happened on Jan. 25, 2026, at the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office intake facility in Phoenix. Court documents alleged Carrico punched a handcuffed man in the head while he was being escorted by officers, despite video showing he was under control and not actively resisting....
