Eventually, though, Team USA broke through with good defense and just sheer talent. It was good to see so many players contributing to the victory, including first-time team members Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. For whatever reason, Paige Bueckers didn't play in the second half, but she was still cheering on her team.

Who is the dominating force on the Fever? Surprise:
Kelsey Mitchell sets WNBA season scoring record, feted by Fever
Kelsey Mitchell walked into a postgame celebration without realizing she was the guest of honor.
Mitchell scored 33 points to set the WNBA season scoring record Friday night during the Indiana Fever's 103-85 victory over the Toronto Tempo.
With a 3-pointer in the third quarter, Mitchell eclipsed the 1,021 points A'ja Wilson scored for the Las Vegas Aces in 2024 over 38 games. Mitchell has scored 1,034 points in 41 games, with the Fever having three games remaining the regular season.
... Mitchell scored at least 20 points for the 25th consecutive game, extending her WNBA record. She shot 12-for-17 from the field and went 7-for-11 from 3-point range.
... Mitchell is averaging 25.2 points per game, trailing only Wilson (26.1), who has missed three games this year, in scoring average.
"She's playing at another level, and it's been really incredible to witness," (coach Stephanie) White said about Mitchell's historic season. "I hope that we don't take it for granted that what we're witnessing is some unprecedented stuff."

In her first game since helping the U.S. win gold at the women's FIBA World Cup, (teammate Caitlin) Clark scored 28 points and matched a season high with 14 assists.
It was the 10th time this season that Clark has scored 25 or more points and had 10 or more assists. That's more times than any other WNBA player has ever done it over their entire career.

Indiana improved to 27-14, the same record as the Atlanta Dream. Las Vegas, Atlanta and Indiana are all vying to secure home-court advantage in the opening round....

White previously described himself on his Twitter profile as "Antisemitic, Blackface, Extremist, Cis-Male, Sexist, Misogynist, Homophobic, Transphobic." When asked about this description by a critic, White said: "I was listing all the things I've been called by people like you."

According to an opinion editorial in The New York Times, in 2023, White appeared on Steve Bannon's podcast and said: "Look, let's just be frank. Women have become too mouthy." This comment was later circulated by the Kamala Harris presidential campaign.
In August 2026, White claimed he is identifying as a transgender woman while declaring for the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) draft as a challenge to the WNBA's ambiguous policy on transgender athletes, following a similar announcement by Enes Kanter Freedom.
