Opps! I only see bicycle riders in tv shows and ads and the occasional one on the street. They all have helmets. I just assumed it was some kind of rule. But that's ridiculous for here in TN. Hell, the nutjobs would say it's government overreach....as bad as a mask mandate. They'd put bandages on their heads in protest. Same for knee and elbow pads.

I rode my Schwinn Stingray bike all over the neighborhood as a kid. If you wore a helmet then, you'd be the only one to do so. I had several mishaps on the bike but never hurt my head. It was usually knees or elbows that would suffer any injury. But I do remember falling straight onto the part of the handlebar you put your hands on; I got poked in the stomach by the end of the bar....had a little perfectly round purple and red bruise for days.

I pray that the next presidency tears out every change or addition Trump has made. And I don’t want to hear one Republican cry about the cost or waste. They have stood idly by while Trump spends like a drunken sailor. He’s personally responsible for one quarter of our national debt.
Statues are nice and make great resting places for pigeons but I would rather have roses. Trump had no right to destroy the rose garden and the reflecting pool. Vote blue in November to take our country back.

We are seeing disturbing steps toward the horizontal escalation of the wars in Ukraine and Iran.
1- Russia is expanding its hybrid war against Europe
2- Europe/NATO are struggling to unite in response
3- North Korea is deploying more troops and now missile batteries to Europe
4- Russia is supplying missile technology and intelligence to Iran which it can use to target U.S. bases, Gulf allies and Israel
5- Iran is supplying advanced drones to Russia which (like ballistic missiles) are hard for Ukraine to take out
6- China remains on Russia’s side every step of the way
7- The US is largely absent with the danger that Russia and China read that as an invitation to further escalate

At another time, any one of these would have been a scandal so huge it would have consumed a presidency.
And Trump isn't shy about admitting what he's up to. When asked in an interview earlier this year why he has been so much more open about pursuing his own business interests in his second term than he was in his first, he replied, "Because I found out that nobody cared. I'm allowed to." He does not bother to say that the public has a right to expect integrity in its leaders. The only question is whether he can get away with using his office personal gain. If he can, he will.
In 2024, the Supreme Court's conservative majority ruled in Snyder v. United States that a mayor who took a $13,000 payment for steering a government contract to a company could not be convicted of bribery because he had only received a "gratuity" afterward. In her dissent, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, joined by the court's two other liberal justices, wrote that officials using their positions for their own gain "makes governments — at every level — less responsive, less efficient, and less trustworthy from the perspective of the communities they serve." For Trump and his party, that's exactly the point. They want people to distrust their government and expect nothing from it. Once you've grown that cynical, why bother voting for the party that believes in government's ability to solve problems?
On the campaign trail this year, some Democrats — including Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff and James Talarico in Texas — have been trying to tie all this corruption together and weave it into a larger story about what ails America. Corruption, they say, is not just why Trump has expanded his wealth so dramatically in office. It's also why Jeffrey Epstein got away with what he did for so long, why the rich keep getting tax cuts, and why healthcare is unaffordable. According to the polls, almost all the voters believe corruption is a problem. The question is how much longer they're willing to tolerate it.

... But it will be an interesting question for Democrats who want to replace Trump in the White House in 2029. Should they spend even more taxpayer money to tear down the East Wing behemoth he's building? They won't be able to go back and take the coins with his face out of circulation. They can't un-deport people who didn't get a hearing. And it will take time and effort, if the next president is so inclined, to rebuild the system of scientific and medical research funding the Trump administration cut back.
On so many of the things Trump has done, catching up may not even be an option.
It's tragic that MAGA is too irresponsible and cowardly to admit they screwed up.

As long as all media keep letting Trump drive the narrative, he'll keep driving the train. Why isn't it widely noted that there were no reports of safety issues at the Kennedy Center before Trum*p made it up? Why haven't we heard from any of the thousands of people over the last 2-3 years who attended events there saying whether or not they noted the condition of the venue? why do they always just take whatever story Tru*p makes up and then go from there?
