Iran War

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Have we won yet?

It depends on the War of Choice calculations. This is the utter disrespect we've come to expect from the lifelong cowardly "bone spurs" Chickenhawk in Chief:

We wish.

Grain of salt, of course:

Iran Stumps Trump! IRGC Destroys 3 US F-35 Jets In Ballistic Missile Attack On Jordan Al-Azraq Base?

IRGC says in response to a US attack on Qeshm island that killed two parents and their child, aerospace fighters targeted a ramp and maintenance shed at the al-Azraq airbase, which hosts US F-35 fighter jets, with several ballistic missiles, state news agency Fars reports. IRGC said that it had completely destroyed three F-35 aircraft and caused “heavy damage” to three others.

I actually remember seeing that when it came out. I even posted something about it on here in some thread months ago regarding how the "casualties" had to report to a disintegrator of the computer says they've been hit. I was about 14 then and I remember how it made me think of Vietnam since that was on the news every night. And usually Life magazine would print photos of the weeks' Vietnam casualties. I remember one week there were several pages of photos.

Does anyone know if having "concepts of a plan" is better than establishing "perimeters of a deal?" Or are they equally meaningless babble?

I've not heard anything from the death cult/Armageddon/Rapture/Second Coming crowd about the war in Iran. Are they cheering this on in hopes we'll all die? If they have, I must have missed it.

And I've been thinking lately that it sure seems like the US is taking action against (or not taking action against) Iran solely at the direction of Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Yep, Moron Don is a puppet.

... The alliance with Sunni Muslim U.S. allies, ‌Turkey and Pakistan, is intended to strengthen collective deterrence against any act of aggression and stipulates that an armed attack against any of the three ‌would be regarded as an attack on all.

It was not clear whether or how either Pakistan or Turkey would join in any Saudi response to the latest attacks....

I think this debacle is proof that they went into war with no actual planning. I may not agree with the second Iraq war, but its undeniable that plenty of planning and preparation went into it.

There have been other deployments much longer than the USS Abraham Lincoln. The main difference is the Lincoln hasnt had any port calls for a huge stretch of time. These are necessary for maintenance and resupply. I think it's smashed through previous records. That to me is indicative of absolutely no planning whatsoever and "shooting from the hip".

Something else to consider is there being absolutely no end goal in sight and deployment being repeatedly extended. That's certain to take a psychological toll as having a specific end date gives sailors something to look forward to.

Lastly, the fact that the war with Iran doesn't really have any clear goals and continuously flip flops from being on/off, on/off, and isn't particularly popular with the populace at large doesnt exactly help with morale.

No doubt about that. This was supposed to be over in six weeks max. They're caught with their pants down.

The carrier pace isn't going to be sustainable, Iran just has to wait us out.

From AI.
The U.S. Navy has 11 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, but normally only about 2–4 are actually deployed overseas at any given time.
A useful way to think about it:
~2 carriers: sustainable baseline forward presence under normal conditions.
~3 carriers: typical peacetime average when accounting for rotations and relief ships.
~3.5 carriers: historically cited average deployment rate for an 11-carrier fleet.
Stars and Stripes +1
4–5+ carriers: possible during periods of heightened crisis, but generally requires stretching the fleet.
6–7 carriers: has occurred during major wars, but is not sustainable indefinitely. The Congressional Budget Office notes that an 11-carrier fleet can normally make about five carriers available within 30 days for a major crisis.
Congressional Budget Office
There is an important distinction between "deployed" and "at sea." A carrier may be underway near its home port, training, transiting, or preparing for deployment without being counted as a forward-deployed carrier.
Why only 3 or so?
With 11 carriers, roughly:
3 deployed → 2 training/workup → 2 maintenance → 1–2 undergoing major overhaul/refueling → others rotating through transit/readiness cycles.
A carrier typically deploys for roughly 6–9 months, followed by substantial training and maintenance.

When this is over, he will also have over extended and beaten the shit out of the Navy. He will walk away and leave the next democrat to clean up his mess.
