... "But I do have a hard time imagining them becoming popular with the combination of the pushback that people are doing, and the uncomfortableness that people feel whenever they are being recorded," he said. "In basically every review that I have read, the reviewer talks about how uncomfortable they made all their friends and family during the process, which I think is very enlightening on what that experience is like."

Henderson County residents push to remove Flock cameras over privacy concerns

... Henderson County resident Austin Rhodes started the online petition ...

“We've had successful policing here as long as the county's been here and have the argument that we can't do our jobs effectively without it. That's a silly and moot point," he said.

According to DeFlock, an online source that maps automated license plate reader cameras across the U.S., there are 39 Flock cameras in Henderson County.

The cameras automatically capture license plates and vehicle information, providing law enforcement with another tool to investigate crimes. But Rhodes and other residents say they are concerned about how much information is being collected and who can access it.

“I think Flock cameras are an invasive tech that is proliferating very quickly in our county, and it's stealing our information. It's watching us all the time, and it's making regular citizens feel like criminals,” Henderson County resident Tiernan Turner said.
39, I do now. :problem:
... An opposing petition supporting the cameras has also circulated online....
64 signatures  Probably the number of PD and SO employees here.

There are several traffic light cameras in this area. No idea what brand they are. The ones i know of are on metal poles about eight or nine feet tall. Just from a casual observation, it appears that one could easily sabotage these things just by coming up behind them, reaching up and around with your can of black spray paint, and render the damn thing impotent. Of course, this is a cheap and likely temporary remedy and will likely soon be detected, which means one will likely need to repeat the operation.

Idk if traffic light cameras and perpetual license plate readers are the same thing.

Nope.

Spoken as someone who has gotten two traffic cameras tickets :angry-cussing:.

At least (here) they don't go as points against your license or insurance.

I got one of those about eight years ago. But I was manipulated into it.....I was turning left at a signal; it began to go yellow, which I noticed. But someone opposite from me who was turning right onto the street I was trying to turn left on didn't slow or stop before turning (the light was still red for them) so I had to stop in the middle of the intersection in order to not hit the other car. During that pause, the light turned red. So I got a picture of the ass end of my car in the mail along with a ticket for $115.

Sounds like you drove responsibly. You might have gotten a fine reduction or dismissal if you took it to court.

Yeah, one would think. But probably not if he was driving that badass Camaro with the F*ckU licence tag.

 I thought about it. But on the paper it said if I go to court it will cost another $90 if I lose. I thought, well, they have a picture of it, they don't have a picture of the car I had to stop for, they don't know that I could see the light through the T tops of my car (I saw it turn red after having to sit there) so I figured I'd just pay the $115. Plus, I didn't want to chance any contempt of court stuff. I think that's instant jail.
