A President would not be expected to appoint an AG who actively opposed him or who was actively opposed to his overall agenda. But in theory, the President's agenda will be in the interest of the country and will be constrained by legal boundaries. Within that context, the AG can work "for" the President but fulfill his responsibilities as the top law enforcement officer. In situations however where the President's agenda needs some strong guardrails and where the AG has represented him personally in questionable matters, the part about "top law enforcement officer" and "represents the people" goes away and appointment of such person should be opposed even if it may appear on the surface that his appointment is similar to others in the past. Further, it should be opposed even if there had been similar instances in the past because it would be wrong no matter which President was doing it. In fact, if there had been other exact instances in the past, that should be even greater reason to oppose this one rather than making such a situation become "normal" and accepted because "he did it first."

Meh, cultists don't do logic or common sense. Meanwhile, the whole thing kind of reminds me of how John Mitchell was Nixon's campaign manager for part of 72, then became AG, got fouled up in Nixon's "I am not a crook" criminal enterprise and ended up in prison. That was back when Republicans that did not work in the White House had principles and morals and respect for the law.

The feckless Republicans are going to get what they deserve in November and they're going to cry through 2028.

Fuck 'em all.

Yeah. Cassidy shit rationalized his vote by saying whoever may take Blanche's place could be worse. What a hell of a thing to admit. But I guess he does have a point, which itself says a lot about all this.

Oh, today is the day Nixon resigned in 74.

Trump Communications Chief Hurls Ugly Slur At CNN's Erin Burnett Over Trump TV Remarks

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung lashed out at CNN anchor Erin Burnett on Tuesday over her damning description of the administration’s new Trump TV.

Burnett compared the White House’s newly launched 24/7 video stream to state television in authoritarian North Korea. The controversial YouTube channel debuted just days after President Donald Trump barred CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House grounds. That prompted the major TV networks to suspend their participation in the White House TV pool.

Cheung, in a statement to The Daily Beast, hit back at Burnett, calling her “a racist and a retard,” the latest in a long line of offensive attacks from the top aide the president reportedly nicknames “Luca Brasi.”
That's some fine communicating, thin-skinned Stevie. Trump TV must have been his fascist idea. Btw, Burnett is neither.
Burnett drew Cheung’s ire with a monologue on her “OutFront” show, telling viewers: “You’re not being punked. This is real. It’s called Trump TV. It’s 24 hours of Trump re-airing what the White House calls, ‘major remarks and must-see highlights.’”

The channel has attracted low viewer numbers, and Burnett suggested that may have something to do with “the actual content Trump TV has so far aired,” which is centered on previous Trump addresses.

“It’s a weird sort of form of state TV,” she continued. “I mean, right now, with everything going on, people want to rewatch his inauguration?”

“It’s kind of reminiscent of what you would find in North Korea,” she added. “That’s called KCTV and it’s dedicated, every airing, to pretty much every public appearance by their leader, whether it’s an amusement park or a military facility, and they repeatedly air Kim Jong un’s remarks again and again. It sounds familiar.”

:D Kim's probably had her bags packed since Jan, but the Senate doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to confirm her.

You're doing a helluva job there Kimmy.
Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, has faced scrutiny over remarks she allegedly made during a private dinner in Athens in March 2026.

The discussion at the dinner, attended by Greek and U.S. officials, turned to the collapse of the Romanian government. A person who attended the dinner and others briefed on the exchange said Guilfoyle remarked:

“We can do that to any country we want. We can do that here.”

The comment reportedly led to a tense exchange with Greece’s energy minister Stavros Papastavrou, who responded that the U.S. could not replace Greece’s government, which was elected by voters.

I figure the general consensus is "yes." I don't have a globe in front of me, but I'd say Greece is about as far away as she could get.
