'Fascist Propaganda, Period': Critics Trash Trump's New Taxpayer-Funded 'Love Me' Ad
The bizarre government-sponsored ad was spotted on Fox News.

A new ad is apparently hitting cable television, aimed at propping up President Donald Trump, while the song “Love Me” plays. And it includes an alarming disclaimer, given its content: “Paid for by the U.S. government.”

The ad was spotted by CBS News Miami investigative reporter Jim DeFede, who tweeted a video of it from his television:

In the video, Trump ― who on Thursday rolled out a literal red carpet for communist Chinese leader Xi Jinping ― rails against communism.

“America will never be a communist country,” Trump says in the video.

The video also includes UFC boss Dana White at the 2024 Republican National Convention praising Trump as the “toughest, most resilient person that I’ve ever met and nothing is gonna stop him from fighting so hard for the country he loves.”

The video includes the words “love me” from the song “Love Me” by JMSN, which are sung repeatedly over images of Trump. It’s unclear whether the artist gave permission to include his song, as both Trump and his White House staff have repeatedly used music and images without clearing them.

Unlike most other taxpayer-funded PSAs, this one does not even loosely promote a cause or initiative that benefits the public. It looks more like a campaign ad, especially with White’s RNC excerpt. But since the promotion was paid for by the federal government to run on TV, critics described it as pure propaganda:

I don’t know what the hell is going through the minds of the members of our other two branches of government, but they are actively betraying our country.

Saying "America will never be a communist country" while blasting state funded propaganda is too on the nose.

This is exactly what I pictured in my head the first time I read 1984.

White House Defends Trump's 'Love Me' Ads As ‘Public Service Announcements’
The ad appears to meet the dictionary definition of state propaganda.

American taxpayers are funding campaign-style ads glorifying the greatness of President Donald Trump, while the White House defends them as “public service announcements.”

Federal law prohibits the use of public funds for “publicity or propaganda,” said former White House lawyer Norm Eisen, which Trump’s ad is openly violating. “This commercial is a shocking transgression of those legal provisions,” he said.

The 30-second spot features a montage of photos and video of Trump at various events, and starts with audio clips of him stating: “Together, we will defeat communism, socialism, and Marxism in America” and “America will never be a communist country” while that text appears in all capital letters. Trump’s claimed accomplishments ― “LARGEST TAX CUTS IN HISTORY,” which is false; “REIGNITING AMERICAN MANUFACTURING,” which is also false; DEFEND LAW AND ORDER AND POLICE,” which fails to mention that he pardoned hundreds of convicted cop-beaters on his first day in office — then flash on the screen.
