German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil told reporters he had made clear “that he would not pose for a group photo with the Russian finance minister,” noting that such a photo had not taken place in recent years.

Klingbeil said he coordinated his position with other European officials.

“The Europeans’ united approach ultimately meant that the group photo took place without the Russian finance minister and without the Russian delegation,” he said.

Joe diGenova resigns from DOJ after overseeing "grand conspiracy" probe

Joe diGenova, the prosecutor who was tapped by Attorney General Todd Blanche to supervise the "grand conspiracy" investigation targeting Obama- and Biden-era officials, abruptly resigned on Thursday.

In a brief call with CBS News, diGenova said he had turned in his resignation letter to Blanche at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

"It was an honor and a privilege to serve the president and the department," he said. He added that his wife, attorney Victoria Toensing, who also worked with the team of federal prosecutors in Fort Pierce, Florida, will be leaving the Justice Department on Friday.

diGenova declined to comment on the reasons for his sudden departure, which was first reported by ABC News....

He was also overseeing a criminal probe into whether Obama-era CIA Director John Brennan lied to Congress in 2023 about the U.S. intelligence community's assessment on Russian interference in the 2016 election.

diGenova was tapped for the role in April, after Maria Medetis Long, the prosecutor who had been overseeing the two cases in the U.S. attorney's office in Miami, was abruptly removed after she had expressed some concerns about the strength of the evidence.

Donald Trump's team has attempted to deflect questions about the still-vacant press secretary position by posting an angry message on social media.

The position, which has been vacant since Karoline Leavitt left the White House at the end of August, has now been empty for the longest period in American history. While President Donald Trump claims that he has had "so many job applications," the administration has yet to name anyone to the position permanently.

Cut the man some slack. It's difficult to find a quality blow job.

The White House has not officially announced a name, though several possibilities have been floated to the president. "I've never had so many job applications in my life," Trump told reporters, adding that Leavitt made it look "glamorous."

Other names include CNN MAGA correspondent Scott Jennings, who allegedly met with Susie Wiles, Trump's chief of staff, since the press secretary position opened up. However, Jennings has not confirmed anything. In addition to Jennings, sources told the New York Post that Alina Habba, the president's former defense attorney, is also being eyed as a possible replacement.

Other names being floated included deputy press secretary Anna Kelly, who served as a national press secretary for the Republican National Committee. Kari Lake and Katie Miller, the wife of Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, have also been floated, but are considered long shots.

Sources also said that White House Communications Director Steven Cheung and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Taylor Budowich are also being considered. Matthew Boyle, the Washington bureau chief for right-wing news site Breitbart, was also named as a potential candidate.
