It's the economy, stupid.

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

DonOLD's economic advisor.

White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said on Fox News that inflation is cooling, citing a $2 drop in hamburger prices from weeks earlier. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows ground beef actually hit record highs in August 2026, averaging $6.92 to $7.16 per pound—up 8-22% from last year—due to a tight cattle supply. Online reactions called out the disconnect, with critics labeling it gaslighting and highlighting persistent high costs for staples amid 3.4% overall inflation.

His benchmark is a record high? :wtf: It's also up +$0.04 vs. last week (+0.6%). These people are assholes.

Reformed sickophant:
Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene 🇺🇸

Trump just beat Biden with the HIGHEST diesel price in history - $6.50/gallon.

Is this what winning is like??

I’m so sick of Trump’s “winning.”

So so so sick of it.

All of you pathetic hypocritical maga cult accounts and bots get ready for more of my gas price videos.

I didn’t campaign for that liar and fight to get him elected for him to betray us all and start an unprovoked foreign war, kill a bunch of little girls in a school, get our military men and women killed and wounded, make it unaffordable for regular Americans to pump fuel in their cars and trucks, and refuse to release the Epstein files.

By the way, EVERYTHING in this country runs on diesel!!!

EVERYTHING that matters.

Yeah, ya know where all that "strong labor market" is - agriculture, after they've chased off the migrants. I can see the lines of Caucasian applicants now, all ready to "make so much money."

There's always too much emphasis on the comparison of available jobs and the unemployment rate. It really doesn't matter if you have 10,000 available jobs for healthcare workers and the majority of unemployed are truck drivers and software developers. Labor markets aren't intended to move quickly, as change has to happen over time with a lot of adaptations. It took a long time to convert the original Teamsters (driving a team of animals) into truckers. Phasing out the animals into trucks, training, etc. Tru*psters want to paint it like "oh lots of new jobs this month - everybody on unemployment can get one." Nope. Nagonnahappen.

What encourages me is more school systems are adding "Shops" to the academic offerings. This allows folks to match their skills/desires to what jobs are available in the market place.

Yeah, because we all know high schoolers will make wise choices and not take "Shop" just because it may be easy and they can work on their own car. I'd rather see a post-high school (maybe community college) collaboration with employers/unions for a real working apprentice program.

I took shop in junior high. I made an attractive plastic doodad with different think layers or colored plastic equally spaced. Once it was formed and polished, it looked cool. Also made wooden lamp by laminating wood planks together and then turning it on a lathe to shape the lamp base. Thaat was in 66 or 67. Not made a plastic doodad or a wood lamp since then. But I was once a CNC punch press product designer and punch press programmer. But I suppose shop class was beneficial in a way. Gave ma an appreciation of power tools in the same way you get an appreciation of physics and dynamics in a car crash.
