Face-Eating Leopards

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

And the beat goes on...

Additionally, no price relief coming soon. Maybe the opposite.
A joint statement from Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Kansas Livestock Association and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association regarding the ongoing ICE operations in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas:

Texas?

... "A person being shot on the streets of Austin by someone purporting to be law enforcement, particularly when it's ICE, is something that causes me to be unhappy and angry," (Austin Mayor Kirk) Watson said at the news conference. "While I'm unhappy and I'm angry about it, I'm not surprised at all."
Congressman Greg Casar on X:

"The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning. As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law. Over and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened. We can see the lies with our own eyes. We will demand truth, transparency and accountability."
Congressman Greg Casar
House Democrats

Just like Americans have from Minneapolis to Houston, Austinites will speak out peacefully against this deadly mass deportation machine.
... In a letter addressed to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin and Acting ICE Director David Venturella, Casar insisted on receiving a Congressional briefing by Sept. 28.

James Talarico, who is running as the Democratic candidate for one of Texas' U.S. Senate seats, said he is "closely following" reports of the shooting, and requested an investigation and all available footage.
U.S. Rep., D-Texas:
... In reaction to the shooting, the League of United Latin American Citizens — the largest Latino civil rights organization in the U.S. — called on Congress to establish an independent oversight of immigration enforcement....

Yesterday I read a story about the federal judge (Boasberg) who issued that ruling last year about the immigration flights to El Salvador. He'd issued an order that the planes return to the US. Instead, they flew on to El Salvador. The judge is considering whether to issue a contempt of court warrant to the administration for violating his or\der. Anyway, DHS told the judge that it was Kristi Gnome who made the decision the flights continue. Don't know when the judge will make his decision.

Trump-voting couple slam president for immigration crackdown for separating family
A conservative Texas family voted for President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, hoping he would deliver on his promises to deport criminal immigrants. Now, one of the members faces deportation.

... “If I could go back, if my vote would somehow change everything, I’d go back and vote Kamala just so we don’t have to deal with this,” Keating said.

Likewise, Hernandez, who could not vote for herself but had consistently supported Trump, said she had supported his plans to remove criminals from the country. She expressed surprise to learn that one of the immigrants who would be removed was herself.

“There was a lot of crime in the country. I thought it was good to deport the bad people,” she said. “Now, it doesn’t matter if you’re a good person or a bad person.”

The Keating’s experience is not unique. As President Trump’s disapproval rates grow, an increasing number of voters regret having cast their ballots for him. In fact, according to Navigator Research, one in five Americans who voted for Trump in 2024 now regret their choice....
