You may want to check those numbers. Historically you had a somewhat even split, about 40 each party with 20 unaffiliated. But Tru*p support is different and for some time it's been more 30/70. Nevertheless, there's bound to be some of everything in most large groups.

"Basic conservative values" is one thing, even though historically those who claim to be "Conservative" (cap C) have been less than supportive of the Black community. LBJ was right when he said passing the Civil Rights Act would lose him the South. Opposition to civil rights (mostly Black's rights) is why the "Solid South" is red now instead of blue as it was pre CRA. Tru*p's platform incites/encourages inter-racial hate. Tru*p has actively tried to destroy public records of Black accomplishments as well as slavery and civil rights struggles. Tru*p's top people, such as Miller, are public racists.
So sure, maybe the Dems have taken Black votes for granted and have not treated them so well and have broken promises, but Tru*p is in an entirely other sphere in his willingness to actively ignore or hold animosity toward entire portions of the society. Nope, a Black guy supporting Tru*p is just too stupid to believe.

Reality is reality. Trump still had historically better support by Blacks and Hispanics. Make what you wish of why.

Yeah, you're right. Trump nearly doubled his support among Black voters between 2020 and 2024: 8% voted for him in 2020 vs. 15% in 2024. Still, 83% of Black voters went for Harris. I still say that 15% (which has subsequently shrunk again) are fools.
