The government says he was "radicalized" from online videos and stuff. The guy was a psychiatrist in the Army Medical Corps holding the rank of major at the time of the incident. He was shot and paralyzed during his attack.

Speaking to Vatican News, he added, “In no way can Hassan’s actions be condoned, but this decision is a barbaric promotion of a culture of death and must be reconsidered.”
