Yeah, even considering that it's standard practice and fun to denigrate and criticize the opposing party's people, most of Tru*p's nominees are, by any reasonable and historically standard definition, highly unqualified. Senators who wouldn't even hire a nanny without prior experience and references gladly give management responsibility of highly technical and complex departments to people who have never done anything remotely similar before.
Hell, if Hegseth worked for me, I'd fire him just for those goddamn brown shoes he wears.

Jagoff humiliated:
Trump scraps plan to livestream execution after fierce backlash

... The plan to make Nidal Hasan's execution public was opposed at home and abroad, with US Democratic and Republican politicians, the Catholic Church and the United Nations all expressing outrage.

The cancellation is a blow to Hegseth, who is already under fire over the stalemated Iran war and its fallout, which are weighing on Trump's Republican Party ahead of November midterm elections.
O Really and GoCubsGo advance in our pool.
... The United Nations said streaming the execution would amount to "torture," while the president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops said it was a "barbaric promotion of a culture of death," and both Australia and Britain's prime ministers described it as "abhorrent."

A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll released Thursday found that eight in 10 Americans opposed livestreaming the execution.

Lawmakers from both main US parties have said they were against it, and dozens of retired US military officers expressed opposition to the planned broadcast in an open letter.

It "will taint the honor of the military that employs it, and a nation that allows it," and "will ensure that Hasan becomes a martyr," said the officers, including more than 40 generals and admirals....
I think someone here suggested that the generals might oppose it.

No, another blunder.

It was a stupid decision that no one else would have made to begin with that was approved by DonOld.

Hegseth might be the fall guy but DonOld owns it.
President Donald Trump initially supported broadcasting the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former Army major convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting.
On October 9, 2026, when asked whether he had approved the livestream, Trump replied, “Did I approve? Absolutely.” He also said, “I really don’t care how he goes, as long as he goes.

Yeah, I've always felt that making a decision and then seeing what happens after that is the very pinnacle of leadership. Kind of reminds of the corollary policy of saying something you think is "funny" in public and then realizing after you said it that it was like fucking somebody's mother in front of them and then you suggest you were only joking and pretend it never happened.

Asheville Citizen Times. I didn't know about it. With the Hendersonville Times-News having a paywall and the A C-T having limited free articles I miss a lot. I MIGHT have gone to an organized protest, but I'm not sure I can restrain my anger.

He thinks " taxes, immigration, border security and crime in North Carolina" are the most important issues? Just red meat to the village idiots.
Most people think "it's the economy, stupid" is still applicable. And how about pursuing frivolous wars, literally kidnapping workers out of local fields, unaffordable fuel costs (no matter who he wants to blame).

Blaming the predecessor is universal, and certainly often has some accuracy, but that's only a starting point. You still have to say what you're going to do about it. These people's act is wearing very thin.

... Defense officials said the main reason for the firing was that he clashed repeatedly with Elbridge Colby, the Pentagon's top civilian for policy, causing Hegseth to lose confidence in Sylvia.

Colby is the official who said in August the US is reviewing the strategy for the specific and potential use of nuclear weapons.

He is at least the 5th general pushed out this year, each holding a key position.
Putin chuckles.

Elbridge Colby has credentials, but zero military experience. Another chickenhawk, like Dozy Don. He looks like a classic Nazi:

Smart.
This is exactly the kind of thing leading to:
Republicans quickly turn against Pete Hegseth after midterms rout

President Donald Trump may have made the decision to launch the war that tanked voters' support for the GOP and dealt them a midterm shellacking. But the historic losses are accelerating a push for someone else to take the fall: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

And the House could vote as soon as next week to impeach the Pentagon's top leader.

Many Republican lawmakers and allies alarmed by Tuesday's wipeout are moving swiftly to pin blame for the election results on Hegseth, arguing behind the scenes that he played a chief role in convincing Trump to attack Iran with no exit strategy — and no plan for managing the inevitable political fallout.
"inevitable"? They believed the war would be won in weeks.
The knives-out campaign comes despite private acknowledgement from House and Senate GOP strategists that the party's problems extended far beyond the war, triggering 2008-level losses that will take years to reverse. But for now, party leaders – and many in their ranks – remain unwilling to directly blame Trump for their woes.

Even among House Republicans who survived Tuesday's onslaught, there's zero expectation they will suddenly break from the president with two years left in his term.
 Idiots and cowards.
Yet that fealty does not extend to Hegseth, the combative defense secretary who has made few friends on Capitol Hill since taking over command of the Pentagon.

House Republicans are expected to vote to directly repudiate the defense secretary in a matter of days. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, the famously anti-Trump GOP lawmaker, told CNN he plans to trigger a vote to impeach Hegseth when Congress returns next week — and multiple GOP sources said they expect it to pass.
Wow.
... But some Republicans feel it may be only a matter of time before Trump looks for someone to blame for the midterm losses, and they view Hegseth as an obvious target.

"If the president is serious about anyone taking responsibility for it, it's Pete Hegseth," one Republican close to the White House said of the electoral thrashing. "Pete has been either dishonest or incorrect — neither of which are acceptable — about timelines, goals and objectives since the beginning."

Trump has not yet signaled plans to fire any top officials. But in the aftermath of the GOP's midterm drubbing, allies and advisers widely expect him to eventually oversee some level of changes within the administration.

... While he has at times discussed his potential future ambitions with allies — including possibly running for office in Tennessee — those closest to Trump don't believe that's an immediate goal of his, people familiar with the discussions said. (Some Republicans on the Hill, in the meantime, privately bristle at the prospect of Hegseth serving in Congress.)
neoplacebo breathes a cautious sigh of relief.
... "I think he probably knows he's dead but would like an exit sufficiently dramatic that it gives him a launching pad to run for POTUS," one administration official said.
POTUS :?: :!: Is Jagoff still drinking?
For skeptics of the administration's open-ended war in Iran, successfully pushing Hegseth out of the Pentagon would mark a critical victory — but only the first step in a broader effort to bring the fight to an end.

After all, Massie noted, Trump has continued to argue for continuing the war in Iran, no matter the political and economic price paid at home.

"You don't screw up this badly an election with just one issue," Massie said. "It was completely avoidable if they'd just broken out of the cultish following of Donald Trump."
There are also noises about impeaching KINO. Sure some Senate RepuQs would have to defect in order to convict either of them, but it may be a photo finish whether O Really/GoCubsGo or I win the pool on who gets ousted first. Then, there's still neoplacebo's dark horse pick of Susie Wiles. WH Chief of Staff is an easy target for mismanagement blame.
