2026 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

My NC11 - Dem! Wow, just wow. SoupySales called it.

After a couple of glimpses of Balkcom I saw this coming. She was a terrible candidate. Little did we know she was a small example of GOP results nationwide. The GOP ran some horrible candidates.

The SC senate loss is totally on Trump. Had he not forced Graham on Gov. McMaster he would have selected a solid, known conservative as Lindsay's replacement. That candidate would have won. Quite frankly, I believe nationwide Trump's pompous approach got old and the folks showed him.

Prescient . . . but it took 10 years and Lindsay's sudden death. :|

Several Dementia Don-recruited candidates went down, and more that he favored. Paxton :?: :?: :?: Cornyn MIGHT still be Sen otherwise.

Did Bozobert get gerrymandered in response to the DonOLD/Abbott Texas Two-Step? I don't remember Denver being in her carpetbagger district. If so kudos, CO!

I hope to see a spreadsheet of the Midterm gerrymandered districts, D and R. I know 2 south FL RepuQ "beneficiaries" got shot down.

Even Henderson County went for Ager (D) 52-46!
https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/03 ... &contest=0
Overall, Ager won 57-41 NC11.

Were you part of that or did you sit the race out?

Potentially problematic in GQP districts, but at least the NC Elections chief was appointed by Govs Cooper or Josh Stein (D). So, at least a "foxx" ;-) isn't guarding the henhouse.

The unlikely player in contentious Michigan Senate race: Stevens's fiancé

Months before the high-stakes Democratic Senate primary in Michigan, Jason Turkish took such a hands-on role in Rep. Haley Stevens's campaign that her senior staff called a meeting without her to devise how to restrict his role, according to multiple people familiar with the meeting.

Turkish was seen as relatively new to Stevens's orbit. Most of the congresswoman's senior staff knew him as a top donor some had met earlier in the campaign, which launched in 2025.

By early June, Stevens and Turkish were said to be secretly engaged, according to multiple former campaign staffers who said the one-time donor had become Stevens's most important adviser. Stevens soon added him to private campaign text chains, one of the reasons staff called a meeting to figure out how to curtail his interactions with the team, according to one of the people familiar with the meeting....
Fatcat bought himself a FAILED traitorous pol and some nookie. I wonder if the engagement will survive this cataclysm?

75K votes between 2 voter suppressed swing states is hardly "quite wrong", but whatever helps you sleep at night :P . Prematurely "prescient", as I said.

What do you think "75K votes" refers to? He won by more in 2024.

For example:
Midterms 2026: How Democrats built a blue wave and won control of Congress
Trump wasn't on the ballot. But exit polls suggested he was top of mind for voters.

... Votes were still being tallied and key races remained uncalled as Election Day came to an end. But as of 1 a.m. ET on Wednesday, when the last polls closed in Alaska, Democrats were projected to gain more than three dozen seats in the House and as many as nine seats in the Senate — far beyond the three and four seats, respectively, that they needed to retake each chamber. They were also on track to win the majority of governorships for the first time since 2011.
Governorships, too!
The list of milestones was long: The first Texas Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate since 1988 (Talarico). The first Latina ever elected governor of the Lone Star State (Gina Hinojosa). Kansas's first Democratic senator since the Great Depression (Adam Hamilton). The first Black woman governor in U.S. history (Georgia's Keisha Lance Bottoms). The first Democratic senator from South Carolina in decades (Annie Andrews). America's first Muslim senator (Abdul El-Sayed of Michigan). And what could be the largest Democratic House majority since 2008.
DEI > DonOLD!
... This year, according to data journalist G. Elliott Morris, "Democrats have won the largest House popular vote victory for any party since 1974, when the Watergate scandal rocked Republicans to their core."
Sweet!
... A full 62% of midterm voters said they disapproved of how Trump is handling his job as president. Just 38% said they approved. No recent president has emerged from a midterm election with an approval rating that low. Nearly 90% of voters said the cost of living was a crucial or major factor in their vote; about the same number said they were concerned about the price of gas and groceries. Nearly two-thirds said that Trump's policies, including tariffs, have made the U.S. economy worse and that going to war with Iran was the wrong decision. More than half said Trump is not a strong leader, does not fight for people like them, does not have the right priorities and does not have the mental capability to serve effectively as president.
Heckuva job, MAGA.
Meanwhile, Trump did little to boost Republican chances on Election Day. His endorsements and interventions appeared to backfire in contest after contest. He attracted more attention in the closing days of the campaign for praising certain candidates' anatomy than for promoting his party's agenda. And he spent his final appearance before Nov. 3 talking about his troubled reflecting pool project....
Moron, as are his Cultists.
