True true....!Vrede wrote:To be fair, (approximate quote) "We've spent so much money on the machinery of war the last 10, 12 years there's no money left for kids." Can't lay that all on Shrub anymore.

"Reading Rainbow"....isn't that the name of the free-love groups that travel around the country in old dilapidated buses packed with kids, dogs, cats,
and who believe that national forest lands are there for them to freely camp in?

...or is "Reading Rainbow" the printing on Vrede's goat cloak?

Actually the quote went more like, "When PBS took the show off the air in 2009, primarily as a result of No Child Left Behind, that's a story that a lot of folks don't get..."Vrede wrote:To be fair, (approximate quote) "We've spent so much money on the machinery of war the last 10, 12 years there's no money left for kids." I listened to the whole thing. Once again you make assumptions that make you appear incapable of a rational response. Pointing out that this occurred in 2009 as a result of NCLB does not correspond with your implication that those making policy decisions after 2009 are equally responsible.

Perhaps not for Reading Rainbow, but true in general.Ombudsman wrote:I listened to the whole thing. Once again you make assumptions that make you appear incapable of a rational response. Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its labourers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Your last sentence contradicts the second one.Vrede wrote:As banni says, I made a general comment about one general quote from the video, an accurate statement by LeVar Burton. Ombudsman irrationally assumed an implication that isn't there. As does LeVar Burton, I do hold military funders - Dem or GOP - responsible for lost opportunities to support/resurrect Reading Rainbow and other human needs.

Re: TIL: No child left behind killed Reading Rainbow
Plenty of Democrats voted for the war that happened under Bush's watch. So how is that a contradiction? You're trying to be so pedantic you're not actually reading what Vrede is writing. Notice support/resurrect, etc.Ombudsman wrote:Your last sentence contradicts the second one.Vrede wrote:As banni says, I made a general comment about one general quote from the video, an accurate statement by LeVar Burton. Could it be.....? A left wing nutjob that defends Obama at all costs? I've heard they exist, I've just never seen one in the wild!
If Ombudsman and CPF collide does the matter annihilate?

I haven't said anything at all about Obama. Once again you're incapable of making a rational comment. You said that something that happened in 2009 can't be blamed on "shrub anymore." Your statement makes no sense.Vrede wrote:No it doesn't, just as LeVar Burton's deliberate decision to include what he said and I quoted semi-accurately is not a contradiction of his faulting Shrub for Reading Rainbow's demise. banni got immediately that I was adding to his "Thanks BUSH! YOU FUCKING IDIOT", not minimizing it, and posted "True true....!"Ombudsman wrote:Your last sentence contradicts the second one.Vrede wrote:As banni says, I made a general comment about one general quote from the video, an accurate statement by LeVar Burton. Once again, Ombudsman's poor comprehension and determination to defend Obama at all costs have left him confused.
