Yeah, that's the guy. The one that's dead. The one that waved his arms at Zimmerman to get him to pull over and when kind ol' George stopped to see if he could give the kid a ride home, Martin yanked him out of the car, grabbed his gun and shot kind ol' George. Oh wait...homerfobe wrote:Neither is Trayvon Martin; you know the innocent-looking 13 y.o. the news media is throwing in everyone's face.Ombudsman wrote:Bet he's not feeling like such a tough guy now.

Martin was high on skittles and ice tea and walking on the grass.
No wonder Zimmerman blew him away.
A clear cut case of self offense.

The "Martin was a bad-ass gangsta" line of thought only goes so far before it looks pretty stupid. Let's say he was. If you're driving in your neighborhood and see a bad-ass gangsta walking along, what would a prudent and reasonable person do? Well you might call the cops, as Zimmerman did. After that, you'd go back to your house, go inside and lock the doors. You would especially do that if you were a Community Watch volunteer and had attended the training and listened to the instructions of the police officers doing the training, and if you had listened to the person you talked to at the cops. Or, you could exacerbate the situation and do something stupid.

And Martin was going home to build a nuclear device made of Skittles and
sweet tea. Thank goodness Superzim came along and saved us all.

I didn't realize there were so many visionary people posting on this board. I guess the judge should just dismiss the jury and declare Zimmerman guilty based on posts from the BRD forum.

Perhaps it is from another perspective, but the trial that I have been following sounds much different than the
descriptions in this thread. A bad joke by the defense means Zimmerman is toast? It appears to be the prosecution that is slipping
based on news reports.
So far the prosecution has put on the stand a witness who was "was hard to understand, mumbled, acted impertinent, annoyed, rude, and came across, as one cable TV news host said, as a “train wreck.”
http://news.yahoo.com/trayvon-martin-ca ... 56744.html
Witness Jonathan Good verified that it appeared that Martin was on top of someone prior to being shot, which seems to bolster the case for Zimmerman.
Analysts indicated that prosecution witnesses bolster self-defense claims by Zimmerman

If Zimmerman is acquitted in a fair trial, is that not a victory for justice, whether we agree or not?

I don't agree with Zimmerman's approach to TM, or do I agree that he could claim outright self-defense since he started the confrontation.Nihilo wrote:If Zimmerman is acquitted in a fair trial, is that not a victory for justice, whether we agree or not?
I do agree that Zimm had the right to defend himself because TM was kicking his ass by using his head as a battering ram on the sidewalk.
The fact that the self defense was excessive force should (and would be fair to impose) garner a lesser charge than 2nd degree murder.
Again, the media's use of the kid's picture as a 13 year old is nothing but fuel to add to an already inflamed black community.
If Zimm gets a light sentence, all apeshit is going to break loose.

I've heard this quite a bit from different people. Damn, the kid was seventeen. When you're seventeen you tend to talk a lot of shit and sometimes get into a little bit of trouble. I've read that Trayvon smoked weed (gasp), talked a lot of shit on facebook and was suspended once. A few people I knew growing up exhibited some of this same behavior. They grew out of their teenage rebellion phase and became normal adults with decent jobs.O Really wrote:The "Martin was a bad-ass gangsta" line of thought only goes so far before it looks pretty stupid.

Personally, I don't give a shit what they do, or whether Zimm is found innocent or guilty.

Re: Trayvon Martin
I think there were two other witnesses that lived in close proximity that stated Zimmerman was on top; the Hispanic woman said the one on top was wearing something red. In any case, a fight is generally a very fluid situation. Who is on top is liable to change more than once.....I think Zimmerman will be found guilty of something. The fact that he initiated the confrontation after being told not to, the fact that the police chief was forced out due to acute stupidity, the fact that the initial investigating officer (Serino) stated he felt pressure to not do a thorough investigation by other officers. "Justice" is what the end of the trial will be labeled. If Zimmerman is found innocent, I predict another strain of "justice" will begin to be noticed. We'll wait......that's weird; I was replying to a post that's now gone. oh, well.

Medical examiner just blew Zimmerman's "injuries" out of the ball park. Minor at best. Also, looks like absolutely no abrasions on Martin's hands. How do you beat someone up without injuring your hands?

Re: Trayvon Martin
Is anyone else watching this trial? I've been trying to see it in its entirety, although missing some of it here and there.
The uncle of Zimmerman was totally lying. Surprised his pants didn't burst into flames. He testified that he was working at his computer when he heard, coming from the TV set behind him, the 911 call. Claims he knew nothing about the crime at the time. He sat up in his chair and cried out, "that's George screaming." Good Lord. O'Mara had to be nuts to put this guy and his totally unbelievable story on the witness stand. What's wrong with O'Mara? He had to know the guy was lying. An uncle?? Come on!

I'll predict manslaughter. The chatter has been that the defense opened up some reasonable doubt with the rubber dolls and poor Georgie's nose, but the prosecution isn't going to let the jury forget who started the altercation. "My baby screaming...no it's my baby screaming" is probably a wash.
Of course, this is Florida, after all, which let off Casey Anthony and convicted another one to 20 years for shooting her own floor.

I predict manslaughter. If it's acquittal, I predict more manslaughter and general mayhem.
