FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Fairfax boy selling drinks and cookies at a lemonade stand was targeted in what police are investigating as a possible hate crime.
Police say a man dressed in a costume threw a balloon filled with urine and then shouted a racial slur.
Tyler and his sister say they are not letting one bad person stop them from bringing a refreshing break to their neighborhood.
Earlier this month, on July 6th, no one was expecting the vulgar act targeting the boy. 11-year-old Kiya Hill and her older brother Tyler usually prepare for their lemonade stand for the evening rush home. It's what they do on most hot summer days.
But two weeks ago a frightening and deplorable act took place.
The boys mother, Tamika Hill says, "He said, 'mom, someone threw urine at me.' I said, 'oh my God,' and I ran outside."
The family says a man dressed in an anatomy unitard costume, threw a balloon filled with urine. The respectful boy that he is, begged and cried out to the man.
