Zim likely would have shot Holliday too. Zimmy didn't need to use lean, he was a
natural paranoid. And there is no evidence that Martin was using lean the night
he was killed. Nice try though.

Drug usage affects the brain. Lean specifically affects aggression and paranoia, even if not taken in the moment. And then there are the effects of withdrawal. Martin had two thirds of the ingredients needed to make lean on him at the time.Bungalow Bill wrote:Zim likely would have shot Holliday too. Zimmy didn't need to use lean, he was a

Was lean found in his system?gongoozler wrote:Drug usage affects the brain. Lean specifically affects aggression and paranoia, even if not taken in the moment. And then there are the effects of withdrawal. Martin had two thirds of the ingredients needed to make lean on him at the time.
As far as paranoia goes, Zimmerman WAS following him.

Doubt they test for it. Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch volunteer after all. We don't know if Martin started stalking Zim. According to Zim he did.Cowboy wrote:Was lean found in his system?gongoozler wrote:Drug usage affects the brain. Lean specifically affects aggression and paranoia, even if not taken in the moment. According to you, they were able to tell that his liver had been damaged because of it's use, so why wouldn't they?gongoozler wrote:Doubt they test for it.
Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch volunteer after all.
Who was carrying a gun.
Who got out of his vehicle.
Who didn't wait for the police to arrive.
All of which are against neighborhood watch policy.
And the only other eye witness is conveniently dead and can't tell his side of the story. We don't know if Martin started stalking Zim. According to Zim he did.

All the speculation about Martin being paranoid and aggressive is just that-
speculation. He also turned out to be 5' 11" tall and weighed 158 lbs. On
some sites folks had him at 6' 2". So he wasn't exactly the hulking giant
some people made him out to be.

Nor was he the fresh faced adolescent the media tried to portray. And Zimmerman isn't exactly Caucasian either.Bungalow Bill wrote:All the speculation about Martin being paranoid and aggressive is just that-

I don't know if any of that matters to you, but it doesn't to me. Reverse their races or put bags on their heads. One guy is dead and can't tell his side of the story The guy who shot him has no substantiation of his version. Why would it seem reasonable to anyone that the one who did the shooting and left no witness doesn't even get the equivilent of a reckless driving ticket?gongoozler wrote:Nor was he the fresh faced adolescent the media tried to portray. Well it often takes time for the whole story to come out and very few people
seem as perfect at the end of a story as they do at the beginning, and Zimmer-
man had a few skeletons in his closet as well.

Re: The Zimmerman Case -- not as reported...
I disagree. What made it a hot story was (a) unarmed 17-year old shot on way home by community watch guy who was told to stay away; and (b) more importantly, initially the cops were going to drop it without charges, based solely on the shooter's story. You really think if Zimmerman had been black and Martin white those same facts wouldn't have attracted attention. I think even more so. But we would never have known, because if the races were reversed, the shooter would have gone straight to jail without passing Go.gongoozler wrote: If the races were reversed the media wouldn't have given a rat's ass about it.

"We don't need you to do that" does not equal "stay away".O Really wrote:I disagree. The cops had it right. Had the prosecutor gone with their initial reaction, the taxpayers of Florida would have saved a ton of money.O Really wrote:and (b) more importantly, initially the cops were going to drop it without charges, based solely on the shooter's story.

As in, Florida teabagger "right?" Yeah. We already got that.gongoozler wrote: . . . The cops had it right.
It's cost them more than money. They have established a legal precedent whereby a cop-wannabe with delusions of hero status can start a fight with someone who is unarmed, doing no wrong and has every right to be where he is, then shoot to kill when he realizes he is getting his little pansy ass kicked. Way to go, Florida. Your legacy is soon to be "right" up there with that of Texass and Arizona. Hope it's worth it.gongoozler wrote: Had the prosecutor gone with their initial reaction, the taxpayers of Florida would have saved a ton of money.
Oh, and anyone who supports Zimmerman's actions is a fucking asshole.

Oh it's easy to say "the cops had it right" when you've got a not guilty verdict in hand. But using that same logic, you'd also have to argue the cops had it wrong in arresting Casey Anthony, OJ Simpson, or anybody else who got out with a "not guilty" verdict. I don't agree with the verdict, but I have no problem accepting it and moving on - as I'm sure most people will. But a "not guilty" finding on the street conducted by cops probably wouldn't' be very acceptable to many. From a financial standpoint, the State of Florida got its moneys worth. From a standpoint of sinking themselves further into the mucky swamp of unintended consequences, they did that to.gongoozler wrote: The cops had it right. OK, and when the cop says, "we need you to step out of the car" is that optional?gongoozler wrote: "We don't need you to do that" does not equal "stay away".

I was. You on the other hand are resorting to ad hominem. Drugs are a real thing in "country music culture" as well. What evidence do you have that Martin's liver was damaged by this drug you'd never heard of until you read about it on the right wing blogosphere?gongoozler wrote:Care to address the issue?
