Hah! It was nice all day in Upstate SC. I take it you're up in NC? I almost took a trip up there yesterday but decided against it because I thought the weather was going to be bad. Looks like I gambled correctly.

Saturday in Hendersonville, two Bible thumpers came to the house (only one had a Bible). I was just sitting there waiting for laundry to finish and savoring my second or third beer of the afternoon, after fighting vicious weeds and other foul foilage for the previous couple of hours outside in high humidity....in any case, when I answered the door, he introduced himself and his friend (call him Jim) and proceeded to lapse into some tried and true vocals that were intended to lure me into discussing religion in general, and more particularly, in "joining" his church. I just told him that I don't discuss religion with strangers, but what I wanted to do was say "well, your friend Jim there just the other day gave me this handouts; then I give him a copy of the dolphin bugging the guy in the boat about discussing "our lord and savior, Neptune, king of the sea" and also the one about "my favorite part of the bible is when god gives everyone free will, then kills all of them with a flood because they didn't act the way he wanted them to" but I had no copies. Of course, I would have offered a beer as well. I'll be ready next time.

I had some Watchtowerers come to my house for a while. They always seem
to have one older person in front giving the spiel and a piece of younger
semi-eye candy in the back not saying much. They came about three times
over a period of maybe four or five months. Persistent cusses. I don't bother
to argue religion, I just nod my head and make a few polite remarks. I suppose
they finally figured out I wasn't really interested in their opiate and stopped
coming. I would love to be a fly on the wall when they talk about their
marketing plan.
