If one believes God to be omnipotent, creator of all, then an entity such as Satan is portrayed could not exist. S/he could not exist unless God created him/her. S/he cannot exist unless God allows it. S/he has only the powers given and allowed by God. There is thus no chance of a Satanic "victory" and no actual competition. If one believes God not to be all-powerful, then s/he's not really God, is s/he?

Verify the merchant copy- that's the one that counts. You can write anything you like on the customer copy, since you take it with you. If she doctored the receipt, then fire her. If the holy-rollers made up a receipt just to deflect criticism, heap some more on them. Oh, and the restaurant should have access to the original charge, to compare to the credit card bill.

Agreed. But there's still more to the story somewhere. Certainly people lie - could be the server; could be the guest, but one would want to ask why. The server didn't identify the guests, and so theoretically no one would have known who they were. Did the guests just recognize their check online and jump into a fray they would have otherwise been anonymous in? Was there other foulness between server and guest? I'm pretty sure there's more.
