No doubt that LED lights are the way to go. Those fluorescent bulbs Vrede have burn people's houses down. The reason they haven't all burnt out is because you got them before they started making them in China. If all factories start manufacturing LEDs, they will come down in price.
In the mean time, poor people get the shaft because now they have to choose between food and light.

You need to properly dispose of CFL bulbs because they contain small amounts of mercury.
Given my extensive knowledge of human behavior, this will not happen the vast majority of the time. Most people will throw them into their garbage cans (or if they're in SC the back yard) and call it a day.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.
Goodwill occasionally has those squiggly-tailed bulbs for a dollar a pack. I bought some '100' watters....weren't worth a fart in a whirlwind.
They did give you the appearance of having a good tan...... while they lasted. Chinese made junk.
As stated...thanks Obama.
Oh yeah, and this: I keep getting offers in the mail from Duke Energy for free bulbs....I always mail the cards back....ain't got no bulbs yet.
"thanks Obama" - yep, as a US Senator when the bill was signed into law on December 19, 2007, it's pretty likely he was one of the majority who voted for it. So of course it's all his fault. Of course, the US and Canada have both lagged behind a bunch of other countries in looking for less energy-wasteful ways to light things up. On the other hand, had he set out to get the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 overturned, it's highly likely that every Republican in Congress would have voted to keep it. But still...thanks Obama.

The only thing I can figure is that I have an A+ credit rating with them; I usually pay the bill within 1-2 days of receiving it.....
I guess they figure since I pay my bill so soon, I've got money to burn, so I can afford to buy my own dadgum bulbs!

I got my second card from Duke a couple of weeks ago and just this morning called the number to get the free CFL bulbs; they're sending me fifteen of them. Meanwhile, in celebration of the incandescent ban, I have all mine on as an act of defiance. Once the free CFLs get here and if I don't like them, I plan to replace them all with little screw in strobe lights as an act of defiance. Besides, I kind of like that jerky motion LSD inspired movement the strobe imparts.
