Inasmuch as man is not promised a tomorrow, thanking God for sparing one's life is not completely out of order.O Really wrote: "I don't believe God beaned Bean, but it does bring up an interesting question. What do church-goes say when their church is hit by lightning and burns to the ground? God took a shot at us? Or God helped us because nobody got roasted? God wasn't paying attention? God never liked the decor in that church anyway? I see on the news all the time that somebody gets into an accident and, upon climbing out of what used to be their car, says, "I could have been killed - God was looking out for me." My (real) question is, where was God when the truck was bearing down on him in the first place? To have any type of logic, one has to believe that either (a) God caused the accident; or (b) God wasn't paying attention."
God is no respecter of persons; He would spare your life just as He would the life of one who is devout.
