From Fox News 19 October 2014:

Local police agencies across the country are frustrating efforts at the federal level to detain and deport criminal illegal immigrants, leaving immigration officials scrambling to track them down. ...counties that once turned over thousands of illegal immigrant felons to ICE are refusing -- afraid of being sued for holding the wrong person or forced to renege by immigrant-friendly policies in Democrat-dominated districts.

It's hard to argue with that. It's the federal government's problem anyway, they have repeatedly indicated.

Re: Illegal Aliens
So, let me get this straight. Republicans have blamed Obama for years for poor immigration enforcement even though there have been more people deported during his administration than any other, but it turns out Obama's goons are really trying but their efforts are thwarted by the evil local governments who won't cooperate with Obama's goons. But those evil local governments are run by Democrats who want to support Obama, whose goons are trying to enforce immigration law so they refuse to cooperate with the goons. Makes perfect sense to me.
However, it also makes sense to me that ICE shouldn't expect local law enforcement to do their job. The article was a little vague as to whether those "criminals" released were actually released under the normal terms and conditions of the jurisdiction governing, and how many - if any - were release solely to thwart Obama's goons efforts to enforce immigration law.

Shouldn't that have been phrased "Obama's administration"?Vrede wrote:"Obama has also jailed more during his administration than any other and busted more employers."

You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

An outbreak of violence in rural southwestern Mexico has led civilians in a string of communities to take up arms and police their own communities, shining a light on the lack of state security as a new administration prepares to take on the country’s violence. The latest eruption of citizen policing began about three weeks ago in the small, mountainous town of Ayutla de los Libres, in Guerrero State, when residents picked up rifles and machetes and arrested at least three dozen people they said the authorities had failed to apprehend. Since then, the practice has spread to other areas of the state, with movement leaders and local human rights officials saying more than a hundred small communities are now patrolling themselves. Last week, local news media reported that indigenous communities in Jalisco State were also planning their own citizen police forces.
Vigilante justice is not uncommon in Mexico, particularly in rural, indigenous areas where there is a lack of police officers and mistrust of state institutions runs deep.

Rather than grant legal status, and citizenship to "the country's estimated 11 million illegal immigrants", they should be sent back to Mexico to join in with the vigilance committees there and help to stabilize their own country and reduce the criminal activity there.

Many immigrants in the United States illegally who apply for work permits under President Barack Obama's new executive actions would be eligible for Social Security and Medicare benefits upon reaching retirement age, according to the White House. ...No such "lawfully present" immigrant, however, would be immediately entitled to the benefits because like all Social Security and Medicare recipients they would have to work 10 years to become eligible for retirement payments and health care. To remain qualified, either Congress or future administrations would have to extend Obama's actions so that those immigrants would still be considered lawfully present in the country. ...Stephen Miller, a spokesman for Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, a leading Republican opponent of Obama's executive actions, said making immigrants illegally in the U.S. eligible for Social Security and Medicare "is an attack on working families." "The amnestied illegal immigrants are largely older, lower-wage and lower-skilled and will draw billions more in benefits than they will pay in," he said.
...The Social Security Administration estimates that out of about 11 million immigrants now in the U.S. who either entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas, slightly more than 3 million paid payroll taxes of about $6.5 billion in 2010, with their employers contributing another $6.5 billion.
