Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

"A Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputy was fatally shot by a fellow deputy while staying at a Las Cruces hotel, authorities said.

The two deputies started arguing and the fight escalated, according to Las Cruces police. They were staying at Hotel Encanto de las Cruces, which bills itself as a sophisticated Spanish Colonial landmark hotel, after extraditing a prisoner to Safford, Ariz.

...
The pair stopped at Dublin's Street Pub before they got into an argument at the hotel, according to officials. Chan fired several rounds just after midnight as Martin tried to escape to an elevator."

<sigh> If only the victim had been armed....if only they had been the "good guys"... if only they could have been armed in the bar... oh, wait.

Jose Canseco shoots himself in the finger while cleaning his gun...
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2014/oc ... cleaning-/

So how many times can they manage to say "accidentally shot..." instead of "stupidly shot..." or "negligently shot..." or "ignorantly shot..." or "recklessly shot..."

And they even use the term "gun went off." Anything to keep allowing "opps" defenses for gun negligence.

Well, I'm a pro-safety/regulation nut, not an anti-gun nut - nevertheless that was funny!

But funny only in the context that apparently nobody was seriously injured. Those vids demonstrated far better than I can explain why nobody should be allowed to own a firearm until they have received real training, and that unqualified people attempting to train others should be shot. My favorite was the guy who tried to hold the cruiser model (probably) 12-gauge like a pistol and got bit badly. Such stupidity deserves all the ridicule it receives. And the guys (apparently) trying to teach their wives/girlfriends about weapons? Waaay too much testosterone and waaaay too little brain.

Yeah, the idiot shot himself in the leg, but he walked away. I would say that many of these clowns will still be eligible for Darwin Awards sometime in their lives.

My favorite was the guy standing at the target and shoots himself in the knee area, then drops his gun and limps away so that the next dumbass can shoot their own knee. Opps! Didn't realize that was the 1:30 mark until now.

Or look somewhere other than YouTube,
People are crazy and times are strange. I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range.
I used to care, but, things have changed.

I just saw a story on Yahoo about how the FL legislature just approved the use of silencers on hunters' guns, obliterating a fifty some year old ban on them. I thought that was quite sporting of them.

Entirely possible the Florida Supreme Court might make it even easier to shoot people - and not even claim "opps" or offer any evidence you wuz skeered.

Looks to me like Dunning needs a good ass whipping or a serious pistol whipping. Florida must be like another world.

If the Supreme Court case, above, is decided in favor of the gun guy and the NRA, this guy really could get away with it.

Speaking of "opps" - that was the wrong article. I thought I was linking to the one about the 3-year old that got killed a few days ago. Same result. Dead kid. Opps defense. No charge.

Here's the right one... http://www.wyff4.com/news/police-3yearo ... t/30241232
"Accident." Right. Should be criminal negligence, but noooooo. It's at least as negligent as those people who forget their kids and leave them to roast in the car. Hell, they've taken away some people's kids because the kid snuck out an unlocked screen and got to the sidewalk. Maybe more to the story than just that, but still...
But if it's a gun, it's "accidental." :x

Maybe they should sell guns with no trigger for this type of wingnut. Chances are the person the gun is being pointed at doesn't know it has no trigger, and if it's a revolver, that person would be able to see the bullets. Imagine having a no trigger gun pointed at you as the person wielding it advances toward you and puts it against your forehead, all the while you being able to see the rounds in the exposed cylinders....I doubt you'd think "ah, that's a no trigger gun."
