The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I take the wisdom of the late George Carlin, who prayed to both Joe Pesci and the christian god. He kept up with the stats and as it turned out Joe Pesci prayers were answered more often. I believe the christian god was roughly 50/50 on answering.

This is to say nothing about tithing money. I'm betting (depending on the amount) that you're much more likely to get results from Joe.

Be sure to know the signs, on whether you've been smitten.

I know someone who was told by a nun that her child died four days after birth because she married a protestant. On the other hand I had a deeply religious person tell me that a different child died because "God works in mysterious ways."

Examine that rabid badger locked on your neck for a Smite vs Just Being Mysterious" tag.
God has a deep desire to kill children, especially in foreign and poor areas. I hope they're learning their lesson.

How much must one tithe to Joe Pesci to gain his good grace?

Looks like he hasn't been in a movie in about 5 years. It could be less than we think! :gayhappy:

I figure the nun and the other deeply religious person were just being mysterious. Now, if you see a big burly guy wearing a shirt with no sleeves that says "Smite" on it and carrying motorcycle chains on his belt, cross the street and have less of a chance of being smitten. :P

I loved Joe in Goodfellas; especially the part where they're in the bar and the other guy tells him, for the second time, to go get his shine box. Joe goes  and proceeds to smite the guy with terrible vengeance and furious anger. This was not chance.

You can fill in the blanks....

Lie, a big one. You involved my parents and that's what got this whole thing going.

FWIW...I still can't recall "my own rule" that I have supposedly broken.

You asked me to leave families out of it years ago after I made some mild crack about Mrs.B. Are you lying again or just senile?
I honored your request until you chose to involve my parents.

If your claim now is that there never was such a rule, which will be fine with me, what the heck have you been whining about all these months?

You're too late. Your mistake is forever immortalized in my forum quote of you.

If that were code it would not have compiled and I would have been forced to let you go.

Edit: Dang I quoted you before you had a chance to edit your post. Can you tell I have nothing going on on this Tuesday night?

You guys (or whatever term Mr.B prefers) need to forget the past and decide what to do about references to family members should be in the future. For my vote, I don't care. Nobody here knows any of my family members, if any, and anything said won't be taken personally. Call "Mrs. O Really" a 'ho and I'll be offended for fun but not for real. I've posted things about Mrs. O Really but they may or may not be true. Whatever you all want to do is fine with me. Just pick something and move on.

Yeah. This right here.....us....is the only family there is. No one else exists except in theory. All others have been smitten and relegated to neo obscurity and irrelevance. Any slights or insults against them just go off into space. But should your parents, wives, children, or cousins become members of the forum and commence any sort of wingnut half baked dubmass opinions, they will become fair game for ridicule and being smitten to a greater or lesser degree.

It's true. If you're reading this, you're a simulated brain in a virtual environment. Everything after you opened the browser window is simulated. Everything from before is just memories being randomly generated as needed.

I wish you wouldn't keep Mrs rstrong chained up out back in this freezing weather; her water is not only broken....it's frozen.

I have already...or thought I had, until I saw that re-posted post. I figured Vrede was just wanting to keep the subject stirred up so as to have something to add to his "something to bitch about" list. As for me, I've moved on and added it to my "ignore and laugh at Vrede" list.

Yeppers....that's what I done went and said. If Mrs.B was posting, she's fair game and on her own.
Vrede wrote:"Fwiw, I don't care about the family issue, but it's always a pleasure pointing out your hypocrisy, dishonesty and cowardice.
Yep...you make that most obvious....no surprises there.
Anything you say with ridicule and a condescending attitude is a pleasure to you.

Thanks for choosing to keep this "dead horse" post alive! Please continue."
T'weren't me what did it.....you struck first. Your call now.

At one time or t'other, you've been condescending to every poster here....does that mean that everyone here are "hypocrites, liars and/or cowards"?
