The Music Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

My feel good song is Scott McKenzie's "If You go to San Francisco." He died a couple of years ago, though.

The Eagles - Take it Easy is another feel good song that ranks pretty high on my list. Reminds me of Arizona. We were driving through AZ and had to stop in Winslow to take a pic because we are dorks.

You don't see the same plagiarism lawsuits in country "music" that you do in other genres because it's always been the same song.
I heard this country song one time that went:

"Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey, whiskey makes my lady feel a bit frisky".

and just marveled at that guys lyric writing abilities.

The greatest country song ever goes like this...
"Well I was drunk, the day my mom got out of prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But before I could get there in my old pickup truck,
She got run over by a damned ol' train.

And you don't have to call me 'darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name.

This song reminds me of cruising up to Mount Mitchell in fall, then coming back and going to Country Earl's in Simpsonville and eating fried chicken and watching old people dance.

I'm hooked on "Lip Sync Battle".

Both excellent. I would have voted for winner Anne Hathaway.

I would have voted for loser John Krasinski. The J-Lo cameo would have been cooler if she did more.

You know what, they ought to re record that pink Floyd song "time" without the alarm bells at the very beginning. Drag the whole band, dig them up from the grave if need be, sit them down, and rerecord time without all the alarm bells at the very beginning.

Or let any of the really good tribute bands just do it without bells.
