Hey Banni....maybe it's just my PC, but when I logged in this a.m. @ about 9:30, I went to the "Privacy Issues" thread to read new posts. The last post I made was re: the smartphone yada yada... Anyway, the word 'smartphone' suddenly turned into capital letters and turned blue along with a green arrow in a circle. A pop-up ad appeared advertising a "Free $1,000 Shopping Spree at Amazom.com". (Ad by QuickRef) Any ideas? Very annoying. Thanks.

HaHa good one....I guess I cried wolf too soon. I found the problem. A program called QuickRef had somehow gotten into my computer. Any words that it picks up on, such as "smartphone" it creates an ad to pop up on your screen.

A quick spray of 'RAID' eliminated that sucker in a heartbeat....!

Scientific studies indicate that AV software causes your computer to become slow and autistic (especially Norton). The only 100% effective form of virus prevention is abstinence from the internet. Period.

Also, scientific proof has found that abstinence is the best form of birth control....also that the best birth control device or pill is one that is held between the knees. :thumbsup:

Password attempts using the SSH protocol, and what IP's are being banned and unbanned. These aren't even hits on the forum itself, just the server.

Someone tries an incorrect password three times and it bans that IP for something like 6 hours. (I forget what it's set to.)

OK. Try this: People try to hack into the server at all hours of the day, a lot. Apparently you were an easier target though.

Mussa been...I looked at the times that these hacks occurred, and that very well could be my problem. I did a factory restore on my PC and all seems to be well now except for a few quirks here and there; I can't post a YouTube link for some reason, nor can I see one someone else has posted. I can watch all the YouTube I want, so I don't think it's my flash player. Maybe I'll get it figured out. This could be a blessing in disguise, though.....gives me an excuse to chuck this sucker in the creek!

Adblock was the first thing I thought of. I disabled it and rechecked...nope, not it. All AdBlock is doing right now is slowing down the websites downloading; no biggie for me. I HATE ads that invade my privacy and practically cover my screen.

My glitter has been gone for some time. Obviously it didn't get the rise out of me that Banni thought it would!
