The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I honestly don't really give a crap about people protesting "Islam" because I don't like Islam either and think it's a heaping pile of garbage myself. But I'm not exactly partial to most religion anyway, so that's just me. Most of the people protesting "Islam" probably are doing so for different reasons than I would be though, for reasons I probably disagree with.

That being said, the only thing that interested me about this video is the lady that makes an appearance at 0:20 seconds.

It's the monster energy drink conspiracy lady: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bntfUA6TmLs

It was a pretty good mic capture, that's not as easy to do as it looks.
The only logical explanation for this is she's part of an evangelical Christian clone army. Keep your eyes open, I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of this lady in the news in the coming months with the second coming just around the corner and all.

Wake me up when there is the slightest bit of evidence for any of them.

Seriously, any evidence at all, and I'll start my own church with a totally changed mind.

How Mom of Four Who Won $188M Powerball Plans to Spend the Money

Image Image

" I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw the ticket and checked it,” 26-year-old mother of four Marie Holmes from Shallotte, North Carolina, told WECT the next day. She added that her reaction gave her son and three girls a real fright. “I was telling my kids that we don’t have to struggle any more, and I was yelling when I did it, so they ran and said I’d scared them.”

The shock is obviously a welcome one, though, especially because Holmes is currently unemployed after having had to quit her jobs at Wal-Mart and McDonald’s to care for her children, one of whom has cerebral palsy. “I’ve been struggling since I had them,” she said. “But I wouldn’t trade [anything] because they’re a blessing. I’m just thankful that I can actually do for them without anybody’s help. I don’t have to worry about struggling anymore.”

“This is all for them, everything is all for them, all the struggle that I ever went through is all for them,” she said. “They can go to college, all on me and they don’t have to worry about anything…I’m thankful I can bless my kids with something that I didn’t have.”

But before Holmes starts spending on the house that she wants to buy her brood or open funds for their education and savings she says she plans to pay her tithe — by definition a tenth of one’s income — to her church. “First I’m going to pay my tithe because I wouldn’t have none of it if it wasn’t for God,” she said.
It's really heartwarming to see a story like this...I'm happy to see that someone who really needs the money got one of life's biggest breaks. I just hope now that she seeks God's wisdom when it comes to dealing with such a large sum of money, and fending off the vultures and long-lost relatives.

Why did God make her black in America, make her so poor, give her child cerebral palsy and shun the millions of other believers that bought lottery tix?
Ask Him.....

Vrede wrote:My first question, thanks to you, would be why S/He plays the lottery when so many Christians sincerely believe that gambling is evil.
The only logical explanation is that it wasn't God that made her win the lottery, but Satan, since money is the root of all evil. We should instead strive to live lives of austerity since it's easier for for a camel to get through an eye of a needle than a rich dude into heaven and all that jazz.

Plus gambling = sinful like you said.

Satan is a tricky bastard.

But religion aside for a moment, seriously good for her. She seems alright, and alright people are alright by me.

I suppose we'll see how strong her faith is once she gives something like 18 million dollars to the church. We'll wait.....

When you say S/He, you asking if God plays the lottery?

My point from the beginning. Vrede's just eaten up with jealousy.

I remember the first "big" lottery winner from a few years ago; over 100 million...gave his church $300,000, went on a gambling spree in Las Vegas with another big wad. Got knocked in the head while he was drunk, but police were able to retrieve most of his money....he's broke today.

Statistics show that almost all big lottery winners are dead and / or broke within five years of winning. I don't really call that winning.

If I won a hundred million dollars, and took possession of that amount, this is what I would do:
buy a house somewhere that's warm all the time that cost about 250 thousand dollars
buy one of those Dodge Challenger Hellcats
put a million dollars in the bank
give the rest of it away to random people or organizations I consider worthy of having it.
no money to a church
