That "Bible thing" is becoming reality. While there are still good people out there who will go out of their way to help another, attitudes towards others have changed drastically, for the worse, within the last few decades. For instance, in this last mass killing, our president could only speak of gun control .... slamming one type of killing device while favoring all along, killing devices that snuff out the lives of the unborn.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Abortion tools don't kill babies, people kill babies.

Off-topic subject for this thread, but it needed a reply.

Can't remember the source, but statistically I remember reading that this is one of the safest periods in human history to be alive in.

Also, could it be that in the past we simply weren't aware of killings like we are today with the prevalence of mass media and the internet? I mean, going back further still within Christian times you had tons of bad stuff even though arguably people were wayyyy more pious than today. I'd rather be alive today than say three, four hundred years ago.

Strange topic to be here, but I loved Abbot and Costello!

It's very puzzling how people can scream and deny that Global Warming and/or Climate Change is a hoax first perpetrated by Al Gore! That's just out-and-out dumb!

Look around at drastic changes of temperatures around the globe, the massive changes in rainfall amounts, the lack of rainfall where 'normal' amounts of rain fell previously, high temperatures, low temperatures, glaciers disappearing at alarming rates, etc.....

Florida says "don't even mention that around here" while half of their state will most likely be under water in the next 100 years, or less.

I guess my question is, is Al Gore a supreme being with the abilities of predicting, or making this thing happen just to be fear-mongering or, as some claim, to fatten his bank account? So stupid!

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how the topic got to be political instead of scientific. It seems like saying Jason is a liberal anti-Murican because he predicted rain on July 4th. A conservative weather guy would surely have predicted nothing but sunshine. I do understand that there may be disagreement on whether or not there is anything to do about the climate, and whether to spend money and how much on environmental issues that might be uncontrollable. But I don't see how that got to the point of denying that anything is happening. Sort of like looking at a forest fire and some say "let's fight it," others say, "it's too big to control" and the right wingers standing there saying "what fire?"

Supposedly he has donated all of his AGW earnings to green causes, and I haven't seen anyone provide evidence otherwise. No matter, he's been fairly quiet for years, not that the wingnut deniers have noticed. It's the scientists, some governments and grassroots activists taking the lead now.

Exxon and the Kochs can spin a lot of propaganda, but getting people to believe nothing unusual is happening despite what they see outside is quite a feat. Must be more to it than that. I don't know of any other topic where so many people are willing to stand up and say 99% of scientists and all the research is wrong. The anti-vacc people may be similar, but there aren't as many of them.

Only complete imbeciles still think that what they can see/feel - GW - isn't happening. However, many will still debate the human role in it.

This next year will be interesting. Lots of folks have been claiming there was a pause in the climb - there really wasn't - by conveniently using the strong El Nino year of 1998 as a baseline. It looks like another strong El Nino is developing, ut-oh.
