The Music Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

It was fifty years ago today
The Beatles brought the band to Shea
They've maybe been long out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile
So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years
Ladies and gentleman - may I present The Beatles...

Hey Seth, you got a Facebook account? You should get a Facebook account, then you can share all that non-interesting stuff no one cares about.

 No I do not have a Facebook account. If you don't like what I post, tough titty, don't look at it, put me on ignore. No one's twisting your arm, you know. How do you know no one likes it? You're the only one bitching. You've not seen anything yet. Anything I post is better than the trash-mouthed filth you're famous for.

To be fair, there's not been much interest in JTA's metal posts.

Say, is there a metal band doing Dolly Parton covers?

As big as she is in the chest, I'm surprised she doesn't use metal bands! :P

The nostalgia of Beatles live at Shea (or live anywhere for that matter) got me in the oldie mood. I've got a couple of live cassette tapes from Woodstock that actually still play. Of course, the only thing I've got to play them on is an ancient Walkman that may not last much longer. If I can get them digitized, I'll post them for your historical if not musical interest. I could research it, but what's the easiest way to convert cassette tape to digital?

Dolly's got a beautiful voice. One of my favorites is "Tennessee Mountain Home."

There is this available from Amazon.com. @ $43.99 I could not get a link to the page as it is Internet protected.

Go to Amazon.com and enter this in the search box: Honestech Audio Recorder 3.0 Plus with Cassette Player.

I've had one of these about three years now and have never opened the box. I can't seem to get my ass in gear to try it out!

Good luck!

Yeah, "Joline" and "Coat of Many Colors" is good, too.
Also, "Islands in the Stream."
She's a great talent and, apparently, a really good person.

If your walkman still plays or you have access to a decent cassette player, download Audacity, it's a free recording and editing program and just go from headphone or audio out to microphone in on your computer and you can record then turn them into mp3 or other kinds of audio codecs. Audacity allows you to edit by time or sound and improve the quality.

The Walkman still plays (as of now) and has an audio out for headset. So I can go from audio out to the headphone/microphone input to my laptop and then use Audacity, eh? I'll try it. I've also got some other stuff on cassette I'd like to convert. Looks like a rainy day project to me.

Yep and audacity will allow you to save each song as a separate file so you can listen to only rainy day songs on rainy days.

I know this isn't the answer your looking for, but since you've already purchased a physical copy of that album there are, uh, "ways" to get a digital copy online pretty easy.
