2016 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

"You tell me."
- Donald Trump, when asked how his plan to require a database for all Muslims in the U.S. would be different from the Nazis tracking the Jews in Germany

So there are Republicans that say, "Donald Trump is a dangerous demagogue. He’s doing damage to the Republican brand that will prevent us from running a competitive national election next year.” https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politi ... story.html

Yet they also run Cruz, et.al. with a straight face.

Yep, he's appealing to exactly the constituency that the GOP created, but I don't see any admission of that within the GOP. He's at least as much a symptom as he is the disease.

In a Desperate Bid to Take Down Donald Trump, Republicans Are Unleashing the F-Word

... a number of Republicans have decided to ramp up the attacks dramatically: They're characterizing him as an out-and-out fascist....
The flaw in this strategy is the assumption that Republicans think fascism is a bad thing.

There are some good arguments that Trump isn't "conservative" in the manner the current crop of right-wing yahoos prefer. I'm surprised the opposition hasn't hit him harder for that. Calling him a fascist is just tossing red meat to the torch and pitchfork village idiots.

They could also call him a liar, but that would call into question too much of their platform.

From the article

Trump, who is a leading Republican candidate for President, questioned how historians could dispute the battle. "How would they know," he told the Times. "Were they there?"
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Donald Trump said in an interview this week that it is highly unlikely that he would ever use nuclear weapons as president. Meanwhile, Ben Carson said, "Hey, what does this button do?"

I guess he's got a point. There are a lot of places I'm not at, nor have ever been at at many different times throughout history. Therefore there are a lot of things I can't dispute because I simply wasn't there.

I can't dispute the integral role played by Vikings in the great civil war battle of Greenville, SC back in 1812, when Abraham Lincoln charged down the reedy river on his dragon ship defeating colonel Sanders and his confederate Kentucky militia.

Can't dispute that because I wasn't there.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

It hit Florida, so thankfully nothing of value was lost.

When right-wing zealot Lindsay Graham becomes the "voice of moderation" we know the country's in deep shit if any more Republicans get into office.

Is he still running? Graham is at 0.3% nationally, and only 2% in SC!

Bush is under 5% nationally. I wonder what the Vegas odds would have been on that a year ago.

Bernie is leading in New Hampshire. Then? Probably not a lot, but politics is weird.

Donald Trump: Who are these Muslim sports heroes that Obama is talking about?

... “Obama said in his speech that Muslims are our sports heroes. What sport is he talking about, and who?” Trump tweeted after Obama’s speech....

Donald Trump, left, accepts his Muhammad Ali award from Ali at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night.

There are a number of sports legends who have identified as Muslim, including basketball greats Shaquille O'Neal and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Trump has feuded with Abdul-Jabbar on the campaign trail.

Additionally, Trump has both accepted from and given awards to boxing champion Muhammad Ali. Trump has shared multiple inspirational quotes from Ali on his Twitter feed and called Ali his “friend” earlier this year. Trump has also touted the campaign endorsement from another famous Muslim boxer, Mike Tyson....
