It may have been accidental, but I'm saying that I and other savvy demonstrators would do exactly the same thing to capture a powerful image. The back of the sign would be pointless.Boatrocker wrote:And the average knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing reichwingnut would never think to question the direction the sign is facing.Vrede too wrote:To be fair, it's effective messaging to visually link your sign with the target that way. Given the perfect framing, I'd even wager that the pic was taken by a colleague of the protester. No one inside the fence cares what the sign says, they see dozens or hundreds every day.

While there is nothing "technically" wrong with this. The killing by a person can't be done nearly as efficiently without a gun. So still rated as "Shit Republicans Say".

Trump added that in the San Bernardino office building where the shooting took place, “if you had a couple of folks in there with guns, and that knew how to use them, and they were in that room, you wouldn't have dead people. The dead people would be the other guys.”
That would be the "other guys" who had semi-auto rifles and body armor. Right.

“I would handle it so tough, you don't want to hear,” Trump said Friday night after being asked how he would handle terrorism cases inside the country.
"I would get myself in so much trouble with them, we are going to handle it so tough,” the billionaire businessman continued. “You know what we're going to do? We're going to get it stopped."
Some might disagree on the "you don't want to hear" part.

Trump talks tough, but we all know that he is a Vietnam chickenhawk and is so well protected by armed security that he will never be in a position to use a gun in self defense.Vrede too wrote:Seth Milner (and Trump) actually believes that arming health inspectors and allowing guns in a facility for the developmentally disabled are good ideas. Whoa there. That's some commie socialist lib'rul talking there, slandering the free enterprise policies of Ken Lay. If Lay did anything illegal, then why was he never charged let alone convicted? Why didn't he ever have to pay back the money he supposedly defrauded from others?probably going to turn out to be us and illegal as ENRON moron.
(Sure, the commies have claimed that he was found guilty on all six counts of conspiracy and fraud by a jury, and another four counts of fraud and making false statements by a judge in a separate trial. But he died prior to exhausting his appeals - meaning that he didn't get full due process - so his convictions were automatically vacated. The law views it as though he had never been indicted, tried and convicted. And so his family got to keep the money.)

Trump:
Bill Gates, owner and supreme commander of the internet. The press has to be responsible; they're not being responsible. We're losing a lot of people because of the Internet. We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people who really understand what's happening and maybe, in some ways, closing that Internet up in some ways.
Somebody will say, 'Oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech.' These are foolish people, we have a lot of foolish people. We've got to maybe do something with the Internet because they're recruiting by the thousands, they're leaving our country, and then when they come back, we take them back.

Dump understands the internet about as well as he understands most things. Oh, sure, there are some things he does very well- getting cameras pointed his way, suing people, running a business into the ground or using his formidable wealth to turn some high-rise building into a tacky, gaudy, trashy trailer park parody of modern architecture . . . but mostly he's just a fucking idiot. With a bleached beaver tail on his head.bannination wrote:Trump:

Can't believe Donny T. straight up said he'd ban Muslims from entering the US.
Between Trump's popularity and all these SJW types making headlines lately with their college campus cry-fests, its gonna be interesting to watch the west go even
further down the shitter.

Dick Cheney said Trump needs to check himself. Let that sink in.

I don't know if this is a Republican thing or a thing that Americans are pissed off about in general. You folks generally shoot down what I post, sensible or nonsensical, so I'll wait to see your opinions. (I couldn't delete out that "pass it on")

Re: Shit Republicans Say
Well, at least you posted it in the right thread. And no, it's not profound. Let's start with faulty logic and false premise. All gun owners are not judged by the actions of a few lunatics. Support of firearm laws and efforts to keep them out of the hands of evil people (or at least make it harder for evil people to get them) is no different from support of more stringent laws on drunk driving - which over the past couple of decades has made a significant and measurable difference. Nobody is saying that judged all drivers by the actions of a few drunks, did they? Not judging Muslims for the actions of their lunatics is no different from not judging Christians for the actions of theirs.
On the second statement, (1) all the talk of Social Security "running out of money" is political yammer by those who want to cut benefits; (2) Republicans talk about welfare "running out of money" all the time, again as political yammer to try to cut benefits, which they have in places where Republicans get their way.
Welfare is paid by taxes, not money from a tree. So a person may very well have worked for their benefits up to the point they lost their job and became eligible for benefits. Also, some "welfare" programs require some level of employment to become or remain eligible.

The premise here is that every time some lunatic shoots up a school, mall, or workplace, the cry goes out anew to restrict or outright ban guns. Personally, I feel a firearm capable of mass destruction has no place in anyone's hands that is not an LEO or trained military; (even those individuals are capable of going off the deep end); however, I feel the that any gun could be deemed an "assault weapon", as it is merely a gun (or rifle). The assault occurs when it is aimed and fired in a manner to takes lives. . . so, I feel it's going to be practically impossible to enforce any type of ban on any type of firearm; no matter how many laws are passed.
Also this: the article only cited judgment of gun owners, not banning guns or passing more stringent laws.
On the second statement, (1) all the talk of Social Security "running out of money" is political yammer by those who want to cut benefits; (2) Republicans talk about welfare "running out of money" all the time, again as political yammer to try to cut benefits, which they have in places where Republicans get their way.

It's not the actual issue of SS running out of money, despite the statement above; it's the issue of the possibility of SS running out of money because of the government's "borrowing" from the SS coffers to fund it's war machine or silly-ass grants that some of our lame-brain pols (both parties) deem is necessary to fund. (I won't go into naming these grants, they can be looked up) Many seniors struggle to live on what they draw now; and some high-salaried big-wig sitting in a taxpayer-funded office has the authority to decide whether or not seniors get a COLA the next year. That's the SS issue.
Yes welfare is paid by taxes, and yes, a person may have worked for their benefits. . but go out into the real world and look around. Young unwed mothers who keep popping babies out are highly unlikely to have worked a day in their lives, and I've read of cases where some young mothers are threatened with loss of welfare benefits if they get a job in an attempt to support themselves, no matter how meager the pay. No pro-rated benefits; either you're on welfare, or you're not. Funny, not ha-ha funny, how THAT works.
Thanks for the comments.
