Hmmm, Clemson out = the PSC having to choose between putting Stanford, North Carolina or even Ohio State in. Maybe you're on to something. ;)

Reconsidered: I don't know, UNC is no poser, maybe Clemson but probably not MSU will be seen as an equal.

Anyhow, Go Spartans vs. the Bible Belt!

Never mind, MSU was bumped to #3 over OK and will play #2 AL, which may not be good for MSU.

Clemson-OK, can both somehow lose? I'll have to submit 2 pick sets.

Ranking the bowls 1-40 (excluding the national championship)

Cool, Appalachian State is #13.
13. Camellia Bowl (Dec. 19, Montgomery, Alabama) – Appalachian State (10-2) vs. Ohio (8-4)

Ohio and Appalachian State may not be the sexiest names in the bowl slate, but this one has some potential. The Mountaineers boast the best offense in the Sun Belt while the Bobcats are riding a three-game winning streak. This is the first bowl appearance for App State since its move over from the FCS level, so you know they’ll have some extra juice to come out with a win.
4. Rose Bowl (Jan. 1, Pasadena, California) – Stanford (11-2) vs. Iowa (12-1) - should be good, I'll split my pick sets.

5. Alamo Bowl (Jan. 2, San Antonio, Texas) – TCU (10-2) vs. Oregon (9-3) - nice that Oregon bounced back, a classic thumper vs. sinner match-up.

7. Peach Bowl (Dec. 31, Atlanta) – Houston (12-1) vs. Florida State (10-2) - would love to see those obnoxious FSU fans shut up, but I expect Houston to get routed.

9. Las Vegas Bowl (Dec. 19, Las Vegas) – BYU (9-3) vs. Utah (9-3) - they made a Bowl that no one outside Utah cares about.

21. Citrus Bowl (Jan. 1, Orlando) – Michigan (9-3) vs. Florida (10-3) - why all the way down to #21? Looks like a good game between good teams to me, I'll split my pick sets.

29. Heart of Dallas Bowl (Dec. 26, Dallas) — Washington (6-6) and Southern Miss (9-4) - Mrs. O Really must be glad the Huskies squeaked in.

33. Armed Forces Bowl (Dec. 29, Fort Worth, Texas) — California (7-5) vs. Air Force (8-5) - classic doves vs. hawks.
40. Cure Bowl (Dec. 19, Orlando, Florida) – Georgia State (6-6) vs. San Jose State (5-7)

We don’t want to discredit Georgia State for winning its final four games, but this bowl is as bad as it gets. The only reason San Jose State – a team that lost to 2-10 Oregon State – is in this game is because of its high APR. The Spartans only have two wins over teams with a winning record, New Mexico and FCS New Hampshire....

I've put in 2 pick sets, both with the same victors against the spread in the 18 games I care about. The playoffs games are straight up, no spread.

One of my pick sets has all underdogs in the 19 games I don't care about, with Michigan St beating Clemson 34-31 in the championship.
One of my pick sets has all favorites in games I don't care about, with Alabama beating Oklahoma 31-17.

The championship score is used as a tiebreaker.

Go Spartans!

App St loses on a FG with less than 2 left. But no, a 32 yard QB scramble then a 15 yard run when Ohio knew they were running. Zach Matics 23 yard field goal after missing both earlier attempts for the win - 100% in bowl appearances, best in the FBS! Too bad about the 7 point spread.

I just learned that the team name for Presbyterian College is the Blue Hose. Odd that a Christian school in South Carolina would want to be Smurf prostitutes, but maybe being in the town of Clinton has something to do with it.

Meh, 1 & 4 points out of a possible 6 on the first day.

1 & 4 points out of a possible 7 now.
Why are the playoff semifinals on New Year's Eve again?

... So why is this happening? Why is college football staging its semifinals at a time that everyone predicts will cause fewer people to watch?

Here’s the honest answer: the people who run college football don’t care about you. At all. Like, not one single bit.

It may not make sense, but that’s the answer....

Sweet. After losing the first two 12/31 games I'm on a 6-0 run. If 6.5 point favorite AL wins I win the pool, though I could end up in a 2 or 3 way tie depending on what happens 1/2.
Tiebreaker details: in case of a tie, the first tiebreaker is whomever's predicted total is closest to the actual total score of the game. If this is also a tie, the tiebreaker is whomever's prediction of the winning score is closest to the actual score of the winning team.

The entry earning the most points through all games gets 70% of the money collected ($119), second place gets 30% ($51), and third place gets their $10 back.
I predicted 37-21.

If Clemson wins I'm SOoL. Roll Tide, this time.

I also have a good shot at the worst pick set for that $10 back.

0-10 run. Since I picked the Ducks, TCU's record comeback handed me the worst pick set for that $10 back.

9-1 run. WV's one point victory in the wild final game yesterday eliminated the last player that could tie me. If 6.5 point favorite AL wins I win the pool for an unprecedented first and last.

Bet you didn't shout that in SC.

Good game. Woo-hoo, barely. Both 1st ($119) and last ($10) in the Bowl pool, 3rd in regular season, ended up 2nd in winnings for the combined Bowl and regular season.

Congratulations

Can't believe that I was pulling for the bammers, but clemson's gay tiger mascot sucks big time.

My friend Jordan looked good and the second won, what more could I ask for

I really have nothing against Clemson, or Coach Swinney (and repeatedly pointed out to a few shit-talking Tiger fans that it takes a guy who learned his football at Bama to get them to a championship), and I thought they played an excellent game. It was never more than one FU away from taking or losing the lead. The interception and the OS kick, a very rare trick play by Bama, made a big difference for the Tide, just as a penalty at a crucial time and several busted coverages made a big difference for the Tigers. They have nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to second-guess themselves over.
Great match. Great game. Best championship game in years.

Now, we start that long, dry spell til next fall.

Clemson's late TD cost bettors millions of dollars

Fortunately for me, the 3 playoff games were straight up in our pool while all the other Bowls were against the spread. Also, one player got his picks in late thanks to poor cell service in Texas, thus forfeiting the 1st 2 Bowls that, he says, he picked correctly. It made the difference between 1st and 2nd ($51) for the 2 of us. FSM provides.

I prefer Alabama's colors. Clemsons mascot and logo are pretty lame. Plus my pscyhco ex was a HUGE Clemson fan, so I'm lapping up those sweet sweet tears right now.

Congrats Alabama!
