Yeah, I started to post that, but sadly that sort of thing just isn't news anymore, and will become less so with more and more irresponsible dolts getting firearms. It will be called a "tragic accident" another successful "opps" defense where she wuz skeered, and everybody moves along, nothing to see here.

Nobody will even bother to bring up the most fundamental of gun safety rules: make sure of your target and the surrounding area before you shoot; don't point at anything you aren't prepared to destroy. So did she wait to see an actual person or did she shoot blind? My guess is the latter, which looking at many comments (including the judge) in the Pistorious case would be criminally negligent at best. But in Florida (and other places), you can get by with being skeered and you're good to go.

Michael Moore had the right idea recently, I think. He said something will be done about firearm violence only after they start releasing the crime scene pics of 20 kids with their faces blown off.

If you're making a sweeping generalization about "Democrats" or "the left" for example, one could do the same for "Republicans" or "the right." For example, "Sorry, but I don't listen to anti-abortion lectures from people who thing its OK to turn America into a torture state and kill 49 innocent people with drone strikes for every suspected terrorist."

Well, Mr. Marlboro Man can listen or not listen to whoever he wants, but what is his point? As for relevance (and probably equally accurate) he could have said "I don't listen to anti-gun legislation from people who eat meat." Or who groom their mustache. I doubt the character portrayed would listen to anybody about gun legislation, and if so, I'd be interested in knowing who it is. Or who knows, maybe he just thinks that more guns around will mean fewer babies killed.

I think, and if I had sufficient interest could probably prove, that the number of guns and the number of abortions has no correlation at all. That owning a gun or not is not an indicator of likelihood of having an abortion, nor is having an abortion an indicator of gun ownership. Besides, the Marlboro Man didn't mention abortions. He referenced killing "babies." There's a difference, unless one is abysmally ignorant.

Religious people tend to have beliefs and maybe some knowledge of their own religion, but not much knowledge of others. Comparative religion classes are mostly populated with people who are not particularly religious. Why is that? My guess is that learning about religions other than ones own can be disturbing to the insecure - basically afraid they'll learn something to affect their belief. And there's probably something to that fear.

It's not rocket surgery, everyone but Seth Milner knows that Muslims eat meat - religion fail - and it took seconds for me to Wiki the Seventh-day Adventists - investigation fail. However, I did make a mistake in posting about them: An estimated 35% of Adventists practice vegetarianism or veganism.
