2016 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

None of the Dems would be better?
There are only 2 realistic Democratic choices, and Hillary is a crook, and hopefully will soon be indicted. Sanders seems honest, but he has so far refused to disclose how he would pay for free education, infrastructure improvement, and Medicare for all. Link

I'd suggest that a person who even knows where to find a 20-minute enumerating the ways Hillary is a "criminal" is probably a bit to the right side of the spectrum. Whether Hillary actually is a crook or not, the case is not made by recounting old witch-hunts like "travelgate" and the "5 investigations" that OMG turned up no criminal activity. And whether Hillary actually is a crook or not, she has been castigated over the years for doing some things or in a manner that males get "attaboys" for.

You pick the oddest sources to make a point. The shadowy and thus unaccountable No Hillary in 2016:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfgTcg ... 3I6ig/feed
https://www.facebook.com/nohillaryin2016/
Not even any credits at the end of the video.

Your article quotes CNN saying that Bernie has said how he would pay for free education and infrastructure improvement, and his ideas for Medicare for all aren't hard to suss out, as the CNN source article says but your article didn't quote:
... When Sanders introduced a single-payer bill in 2013, the bill was to be paid for through "an equitable system of progressive taxation, payroll taxes and re-allocation of current dedicated health care expenditures by the federal, state and local governments." ...

Two of the most sensible contenders: Bernie Sanders and Chris Christy. Otherwise, this is the shittiest, immature group of contenders for this nation's highest office I can ever recall. Trump. . .give me a break!

so called Senator Marco Rubio, answering so called questions after a so called town hall event in Iowa on Saturday, said so-called prisoner “swaps” had “created an incentive” for governments around the world to take hostages.

That's true for Iran and North Korea. Bogus arrests followed by thinly veiled ransom demands are a big source of foreign currency for both countries.

North Korea also has thousands of South Korean and dozens, possibly hundreds of Japanese kidnapping victims. (And they still haven't returned all the passengers and crew from an airliner hijacked to North Korea in the 1960s.) They have "tourists resorts" set up for relatives to visit the victims, while being fleeced for all their foreign currency.

While not officially governments, there are rebel groups in Peru and the Philippines with near-total control over their areas, who launch raids outside their areas to kidnap tourists for ransom. And of course kidnapping for ransom - entire ships' crews at a time - is a booming business in Somalia and the surrounding area. Once the fish stocks were depleted almost overnight - vacuumed up by foreign fishing fleets from half a world away - Somali fishermen needed a new product to sell to the local warlords.

Prisoner swaps are as old as conflict, itself, and governments engage in them or not based on many factors. Rubio is just being ODS stupid.

The Somali fish stocks context is rarely cited, kudos. Is the ship seizing still happening? I haven't heard much about it since the world got serious about combating it.

All true, but has nothing to do with this swap.

Please pardon me. I had forgotten you're still a child. My point in my original post dealing with that subject, was people using foul language in the presence of anyone around them. No respect, or caring, that children may be present. While we're back on this subject, another example of my speaking of people being immoral . . .think . . . "People of Walmart". Don't be such a self-righteous dumbass; you know what I meant.

Yes, Christy. In watching the circus, I mean "debates", when given the opportunity to speak, and the head clown didn't interrupt, his remarks were the most sensible, compared to the other contenders; not saying he would be my choice if I voted Republican.

Just wondering, what is an appropriate age to teach a child to swear properly? Should they be taught at home, or should they learn from their friends on the playground? Are there beginner swear words that they start with and work up to serious stuff? Should there be a segment during English class to build knowledge and skill with swear words? Should there be bi-lingual instruction?

Sure, but Christie's problem, other than being a jerk, is that he is McCaining himself to try to appeal to the loons. Backing off from position after position that he's previously held, and now claiming he didn't say things he's recorded saying. If he were running as the guy he was 3 years ago, I'd agree he'd be a decent candidate.

Sure, he's a vengeful asshole, and there was some other slimery in NJ regarding some transit issues, but he wasn't the drooling loon he's now become to keep up with his fellow candidates.

The man has some skeletons in his closet. Of cows.

On the other hand the genius of Jeb! is that no-one will find the skeletons in his closet. Because the door is blocked by all the skeletons piled up in front of it.

Yeah, he was kind of a likable vengeful asshole, now he's a wingnut-pandering (unsuccessfully) vengeful asshole that's in 6th place at 3.5%.

Rick Santorum is still in it, polling at 0%.

How is it "that children may be present" when Seth Milner is whining about other posters' vulgarity but not when he repeatedly posts vulgarity? Anyhow, a child could stumble on this site and there's always a child here when Seth Milner is logged on.
