More than $900 billion has been spent saving Matt Damon
I’m not sure there’s an actor in the history of cinema that has required more saving than Matt Damon. I’d never really noticed it before, but one astute Quora user posed a hysterical hypothetical question to the community earlier this year that was more interesting than I ever imagined: “How much money has been spent attempting to bring Matt Damon back from distant places?...

Re: The Cinema Thread
Nonsense. The entire set of Mars missions, Ares 1 through 5 with the Hermes used for all of them, would have been $200B. Most of that is sunk costs regardless of the rescue.The Martian (Mars mission): $200B
The big cost in rescuing Damon would have been the two unmanned (and only one successful) cargo launches. Yes, rushing them would have increased costs, but in the future - more launches, especially with all those Mars mission launches - launch costs would be lower. The recent successful landing of a Falcon 9 first stage is also a good indicator that reusability will be lowering launch costs even further. So I'll go with the *current* cost of a Falcon 9 / Dragon cargo mission to ISS. $133 million each.
Ground crew is needed to support the Hermes crew for an extra year or so. But they're on salary regardless. On the other hand some Mars Pathfinder technicians were brought in out of retirement.
Call it $270 million to rescue Matt Damon.

Space nerd alert.
That said, there would be offsetting income from books, movies, product promotions for the equipment that didn't fail, and action figures.
Call it profitable to rescue Matt Damon.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Jane Austen's classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England is faced with a new challenge -- an army of undead zombies.

'Spotlight’ Wins Oscar as 2016 Best Picture; See the Complete List of Honorees
Also, best ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY. Not a good night for the Catholic Church.
Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies, won best SUPPORTING ACTOR. Cool, I was hoping for that as soon as I saw the movie.

To him, definitely, and:
I would be slightly less happy today;
I wouldn't have had a reason to email the friend I watched the movie with;
I wouldn't have had the excuse to promote the movie to any of you that haven't seen it.
Does it "make a difference" in your home if the Packers and/or Panthers win?

If I'm not mistaken, back in my high school literature class, we had to watch the pride and prejudice movie, or maybe it was a TV show I don't know because I slept through the entire thing. If there had been zombies I might have stayed awake slightly longer.Vrede too wrote:Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
