The homophobic thread :>

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

NC Republicans nightmare comes true in Florida! Man kisses 9-year old girl in library bathroom! HB-2 works!
Well, except that the man wasn't transgender, and took the girl into the mens room (which would have made her the offender under HB-2)

So butthurt. Poor thing. Sure does a lot of unreading. He ought to come on out of his closet; everyone knows now.

"Showers"?? Where did they even get that? Oh yeah, the depths of their creative imaginations. I wonder why none of the "trans in the bathrooms, oh my!" people never cite cases supporting the "problem." Oh yeah, there aren't any. If there were, I am absolutely certain it would be cited ad infinitum. One case. Then they could say, "see, - we told you so...fire and pestilence coming next!" But no. And now it goes from being in the next stall to taking a shower. Sheeeesh.

OK, thanks.
Somehow I don't see a person in transition either way wanting to stand around naked with other people, no matter their gender. But I could be wrong.

According to the rightwing National Review's Ed Whelan, you mean.
Edward Whelan is the President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center....

Mr. Whelan, a lawyer and a former law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia ...
From just before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, until joining EPPC in 2004, Mr. Whelan was the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice. In that capacity, he advised the White House Counsel’s Office, the Attorney General and other senior DOJ officials, and Departments and agencies throughout the executive branch on difficult and sensitive legal questions....
Illegal invasions based on hundreds of lies? Torture? Unconstitutional spying on Americans?
Edward Whelan

In the 1990s, Whelan served as general counsel to the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary while it was controlled by Republicans. He also has worked as a lawyer in private practice and was Senior Vice President and Counselor to the General Counsel for Verizon Corporation....

In 2016, Whelan gave his opinion in an interview reported by The New York Times. Whelan asked conservatives to adopt an uncompromising stance on appointments to the upper ranks of the U.S. judiciary, including appeals courts (which give the last word on cases the U.S. Supreme Court declines to review, and which can serve as a "breeding ground" for future Supreme Court justices).
ODS obstructionist.
Ethics and Public Policy Center

... Created in 1976, EPPC was the first neocon institute to break ground in the frontal attack on the secular humanists. For nearly three decades, EPPC has functioned as the cutting edge of the neoconservative-driven culture war against progressive theology and secularism, and the associated effort to ensure right-wing control of the Republican Party. It explicitly sought to unify the Christian right with the neoconservative religious right, which was mostly made up of agnostics back then. A central part of its political project was to "clarify and reinforce the bond between the Judeo-Christian moral tradition and the public debate over domestic and foreign policy." Directed by Elliott Abrams from 1996-2001, EPPC counts among its board members well connected figures in the neocon matrix including Jeane Kirkpatrick, Richard Neuhaus, and Mary Ann Glendon....

Between 1985 and 2001, the Center has received $9,190,704 in 114 separate grants from only eight foundations:

Castle Rock Foundation
Earhart Foundation
Koch Family Foundations (Claude R. Lambe Foundation)
John M. Olin Foundation, Inc.
Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation
Between 2001 and 2010, the Ethics and Public Policy Center received almost $3 million from the conservative Bradley Foundation.
Scaife Foundations (Sarah Mellon Scaife, Carthage)
Smith Richardson Foundation ...
Hardly an unbiased legal authority, Wneglia. Meanwhile, the con SCOTUS has been issuing rulings on discrimination contrary to the National Review and EPPC's opinions for several years now.

Part of the problem seems to be that a lot of people (like apparently the author), don't have a clue about transgender, judging by their examples of "a boy thinks he's a girl" or some similar comment. Not knowing the difference in transvestite and transgender. In last year's "Big Brother" one of the contestants was transgender (male to female) and in a closed house with 20 or so contestants and constant cameras, nobody knew until she told them. Afterwards, the response was pretty much, Oh, OK, and everybody went on about their game. Some admired her for announcing herself so publicly on live-ish TV, but overall it wasn't a big deal.

Just curious . . . are people who undergo sex-change operations homosexual? For instance, Bruce Jenner wallowed in the household of what many would call a bunch of hotties, yet he "felt the call" to be transformed in to a woman. Anyone know if he prefers men or women? If he was born a male and is now a female, if he copulates with a male, does that mean he had hidden homosexual desires? Now he's a "female"; if "she" sexes it up with a woman, does that make "her" a homosexual?

I think I know now what the Bible means by "it is confusion". Damn heavy stuff.

One answer from a first-person knowledgeable source...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joanne-he ... 86692.html

From GLAAD
"Sexual orientation describes a person's enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction to another person (for example: straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual), while gender identity describes a person's, internal, personal sense of being a man or a woman (or someone outside of that gender binary).

Simply put: sexual orientation is about who you are attracted to and fall in love with; gender identity is about your own sense of yourself.

Transgender people have a sexual orientation, just like everyone else. Transgender people may be straight, lesbian, gay, or bisexual. For example, a person who transitions from male to female and is attracted solely to men would typically identify as a straight woman. A person who transitions from female to male and is attracted solely to men would typically identify as a gay man."

I don't know, but I did have occasion to meet him when he was still Bruce back in 80-ish, and he was one really pretty guy back then. If he'd transitioned then, he'd have been stunningly gorgeous. On that occasion, he was hanging out with Burt Reynolds, whatever that means if anything.

I suppose this means I don't have to undergo body modification after all. All my life I've known I'm a lesbian in a man's body!
