Wingnutties out of control!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Not exactly.
But anyway, I doubt those other countries have a big statue in the port of their largest cities saying "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I doubt further that those other countries have built large parts of their economies on mostly less-than-legal immigrants.

I doubt that either Iran or N. Korea has much of a challenge in the number of people trying to get in, given the quality of life of the residents.

I doubt that other countries would readily give them free medical care, driving privileges, a Habitat-built home, voting privileges, and job training either. Entry into the U.S. at that statue was done in a legal manner; our current administration has made a mockery of that.

I don't suppose you have any reference for where illegals get all that stuff, do you? Driver's licenses, in some states. Voting nowhere that I've ever heard of. Job training, Habitat, etc. only if they aren't caught. Do you know anything for real about the lives of illegals? Through some of our agricultural clients and some of my friends/colleagues who are immigration attorneys, I do. It's a better life than they left, but not by any means a gravy train.

Regarding the cartoon about the Republican/Muslim - I like it! Clearly points out how ridiculous it is that we in the US accord some special consideration when somebody explains their ridiculous "belief" by saying it's religious. For some reason, it is part of our culture to "respect" somebody's religion even though it's OK to ridicule their non-religious ideas. Believe in a fortune teller, you're a weirdo. Believe in a prophet, you're "religious," and oh-so-sorry I didn't mean to offend you.

Plus, most developed democracies provide free or cheap medical care to all their visitors, something I've taken advantage of a bit and helped my crewmate patients access much more so. Of all the things that I've heard xenophobes screech about, this is the one I understand the least. It's in the interest of all of us that everyone within our borders be as healthy as possible. Infectious diseases don't ask the citizenship status of potential victims.

Habitat is great, but it builds relatively few homes and only a small percentage of them go to immigrants, and most of them are legal. Habitat almost certainly has rules about it and, even though the houses are free, ownership has all sorts of tax, insurance and other paperwork requirements that very few of the undocumented would risk dealing with. You're making up nonsense to whine about, again.

Then, most by far are here working, often for submarket wages so that our food, landscaping, homes, child and elder care, etc. are cheaper. Notice that no one says "Lazy Mexican" anymore? So what if they get a few crumbs more from our social services to balance that out?

"Entry into the U.S. at that statue was done in a legal manner" . . . while the Mexican border was largely wide open and millions crossed back and forth seasonally. History much?

"our current administration" has deported and jailed more of the undocumented than any before it, not that I'm happy about it. Once again, Seth Milner pulls stupidity out of his ass.

To display such utter ignorance across such a wide range of related elements, my guess is that "investigative journalist" Seth Milner has never knowingly had a conversation with an undocumented immigrant and has never investigated the topic beyond regurgitating the crybaby BS he's been fed . . . or it's that English is not his native tongue.

If the pattern holds, the response will include some combination of not writing a thing to back up his post, wussy ignoring of all the factual errors cited by O Really and me, whining about me and, eventually, childishly claiming that he never cared about the issue, after all. Pitiful.

Hell, I don't even know where the meme came from!

Do you know anything for real about the lives of illegals? Through some of our agricultural clients and some of my friends/colleagues who are immigration attorneys, I do.
No. The most I know about Hispanics is that they can produce one serious wad of cash when paying at the register in Walmart.
I watched a guy peel off several $100 bills to pay for two slam-full shopping carts laden with meats and electronics.

It's a better life than they left, but not by any means a gravy train.
I don't know about that. The guy in the above paragraph must have caught the El Diablo Express.

The most ignorance I see displayed anywhere is in your getting your ass in a sling over a silly meme, but my posting it produced the desired effect; seeing you pissing and "regurgitating" your usual :bs:  You're so much fun (and easy) to bait, but seriously, you fall too easily, sucker.

Your the so-called medical professional here, don't you have a pill for gullibility?
A suppository might even help.

Yeah, that's something we tend to forget. In addition to "closing" the border, many of the previous "paths to legal" were taken away in the post 9/11 panic. How to create a crime wave? Make something that lots of people are doing illegal. Prohibition, drug "war", immigration...

9/11 did make things worse, but the border wasn't easy before that. I was referring to the Ellis Island days that Seth Milner mentioned.

Back in the early 70's, you could pretty much wander back and forth across without a problem in either direction.

My reference to the inscription was really the cultural philosophy it expressed. If we don't want to do that anymore, maybe we should take it down and put up a "no furriners allowed" sign. The US was built by and for immigrants - some before there was a concept of "legal," some outside the boundaries, some illegal, some jumping through all the hoops, and some hauled here against their will. But everybody came here from somewhere else, except the indigenous people, who got massacred or moved to places nobody else wanted to live.

I find it utterly ridiculous that a person can sit on their stone patio - built by Mexican labor, look out over their lawn - kept healthy by Mexican labor, eat food raised and harvested by Mexican labor, drink their glass of wine from grapes harvested by Mexican labor, etc. and yada, and then say "send them all back and their US-born kids, too!"

Dammit, can't you post anything for me to disagree with? The words "Give me your tired, your poor" was a welcome mat to any and all who came to U.S. soil in hopes to better themselves and escape tyranny in their own countries. Many immigrants found success here, many failed, but the opportunity was there if they grasped it with determination. Because the U.S. was generous is the reason for the gift of the Statue of Liberty . . . of which, regardless of the pit the U.S. has dug itself into, I am very proud of it.

Agreeing again. Add injury to their insult by reminding them their patio furniture came from China, along with their fancy wine glasses, and eating utensils.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/conservativ ... picks=true

"Mike Webb, who is running as an independent after losing the Republican primary in the 8th District in eastern Virginia, posted an attack against his opponent on Facebook on Monday afternoon. The self-described conservative with a libertarian streak included a screenshot from a web browser, and forgot to close all the tabs." Opps.
