Re: Just for Fun

A husband and wife are shopping at their local Publix. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in the cart.
"What do you think you're doing?" asks the wife. "They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans" he replies.
"Put them back, we can't afford them", demands the wife. They carry on with their shopping.
A few aisles farther on, the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.
"Now just what do you think you're doing?" asks the husband. "It's my face cream. It makes me look beautiful," replies the wife.
Her husband retorts, "So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price."
That's him above . . . on Aisle 5.

Re: Just for Fun
Funny punch line.
I'm guessing that joke is at least 20 years old. "HMO paperwork" was a big issue back in 95ish or so, and "mechanics" have been "technicians" for about that long, too. Other than that, it was one of your better contributions.

Glad you enjoyed it this time around then. I couldn't post it for you 20 years ago because I wasn't around these parts then.O Really wrote: I'm guessing that joke is at least 20 years old.

I do enjoy finding anachronistic parts in jokes and comics. Some of the comics now in newspapers are re-runs of strips no longer being created new. Some of them are updated, some are pretty timeless, and some just look old. "For Better or Worse" is updated, but every once in a while it shows its age, like when there's a phone booth, or a character has a cassette tape.

I enjoy picking the bugs out of movies and commercials; like where a car comes skidding sideways and you can see the numerous skid marks where the maneuver was practiced; a street lamp that wasn't there in a previous scene, yada, yada.O Really wrote:I do enjoy finding anachronistic parts in jokes and comics. I was watching a M.A.S.H. episode the other night, and in a scene, there was a roll of toilet paper lying down on a shelf. In the next scene, it was standing up, and then lying down again in the next scene.

Re: Just for Fun
Funny story, but I think TeeTee will have a problem since the show (or whoever) just photographed a real estate sign posted in public. Logically (although that doesn't always matter), blurring out the number wouldn't matter as long as they had the office name - or for that matter the area where she worked. I'd agree that making public fun of somebody's name is rude and maybe even cruel, but it would be hard to make much else out of a bit created from a publicly posted sign. Anyway, Ellen will probably give her some nice "go away" gifts and all will be well in TeeTee land.

If mispronouncing a name to make a joke is illegal, elementary schools would be a bonanza of lawsuits.
If you put your cellphone number on a real estate sign, I think you've forfeited any right to keep it private.
Suck it up and move on.
