A Week of Trump

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

A Week of Trump

Unread post by rstrong »

Republicans repeatedly assured us that Donald Trump would be "more presidential" once he won the primaries.

This week so far:

- Trump declined to endorse fellow party members House Speaker Paul Ryan and Arizona Senator John McCain in their coming elections.

- Republican Vice-Presidential Nominee Mike Pence broke with his running mate and endorsed Mr Ryan.

- Trump continued to criticise Khizr and Ghazala Khan despite repeated calls from his allies to stop.

- Trump warned supporters that the coming election could be "rigged", casting doubt on the fairness of the voting process.

- He referred to his opponent, Mrs Clinton, as "the devil".

- His top spokeswoman said policies put in place in 2009 by President Barack Obama were responsible for the 2004 death of Capt Khan.

- Trump said he would advise his daughter to find another job if she were the victim of sexual harassment. He was discussing the recent ousting of Fox News boss Roger Ailes after allegations of sexual harassment.

- Trump was handed a Purple Heart - a medal given to wounded members of the US military - at a campaign rally in Virginia. "I always wanted to get the Purple Heart," Trump said. "This was much easier." The comments have drawn criticism from veterans' groups online.

- Trump joked that a mother and her crying baby should be ejected from the Virginia rally. "You can get the baby out of here," he said from the stage.

- Trump decided to show that he's a "man of the people" by tweeting a picture of himself eating KFC. With a knife and fork. On his executive jet.

It's only mid-afternoon Wednesday.
And multiple crazier things happened last week.

I expect him to "fire" Pence sometime later this week and name Charlie Sheen as his running mate as a gesture toward normalcy.

"A Week of Trump" --- ? Hell's bells; just think, if the gullibles, rednecks, uncouth, and lower classes get their way,
you'll need to change the thread title to "Four Years of Trump" --- unless, never mind.

Anybody with the slightest modicum of political sense or common decency would have taken the Purple Heart, re-pinned it on the guy and said, "thank you so much for your service and sacrifice." But noooooo!

I think that was last week. Among other things.

But the week is young; he can top it.

I meant Trump's brain damage not the vet's, just in case it wasn't clear.

I don't blame Trump for graciously accepting it, though his crowing about it is vulgar. Refusal could have been seen as disrespectful and critics would have noted the irony of chickenhawk Trump pinning a medal on anyone as much as they did his getting a medal.

Not that he would have an answer, but why hasn't anybody asked The Donald exactly how he believes that elections in 50 different states (or maybe just in 15 different states) could be "rigged"? By whom? The Democrats in states like NC, FL, OH that are run by Republicans? And exactly how would he go about "rigging" a national election? Hint, Donald, it's not going to be from "people coming in and voting 10 times." To do it, you'd have to either: (a) hack enough machines to alter total votes; or (b) get massive numbers of votes tossed; or (c) have a brother who is governor of each state; gain control of the legislatures and disenfranchise a bunch of people(d) or something similar or combination. (Wait - that sounds weirdly familiar :o ) In any case, you'd be talking major conspiracy since each state runs its own election. Also, was the "rigging" already set up before Trump/Hillary were the nominees, so that no matter who ran, the Dem would win? Or did this miraculous "rigging" just get put together to take out the Trumpster? Everybody lets him get away with saying all this crazy shit and nobody even tries to hold his feet to the fire.

Yes, even if they did, he'd say, "well, I don't know how they do it, I don't rig elections, but I know they're probably doing it. Why don't you ask them?" Idiot.

OK, let's look at those. Non-citizens - if all the "11 million illegals" that the Trumpster wants to deport voted, then they would make an impact. But you'd still have to organize not just all the battleground states, but most of the individual precincts in the state and have people staffing the voting who are in on letting the illegals vote, and then counterfeit the records to cover it up. And then you have to get all the illegals to the polls. Right.

Media Conspiracy - so if all media outlets except Faux are in cahoots to promote Hillary, it could have an indirect effect on voting. Making Trump look bad could help Hillary. Sounds possible except that there is a lot of Hillary-bashing going on too. But even if the great media conspiracy was in effect, it wouldn't count as a "rigging" of actual votes.

Hillary not in jail - OK, so Obama tells Justice and the FBI to back off of Hillary. I probably would have if I'd been Prez. But again, that doesn't move votes and if she was in jail the person running would likely be stronger than Hillary. Or at least have less baggage.

I don't know anything about "Globalists" so that's probably what is rigging the election.

I love that you're making rational counter arguments to that list, O Really. Let us know how that works out. :P ;)

Sometimes I just like to play with just how effin' crazy these people are. The ones who think it up are crazy. The ones who believe it are just stupid beyond belief.

It is maddening, though, how news people and others can listen to some of this stuff and then nod and respond as if it made even the least amount of sense. Even Stephenopoulus, when Trump claimed he had "sacrificed" because he built a bunch of buildings, could manage only "do you consider that a sacrifice?" and then let Trump go on it. He could have at least added, "Seriously?"

I mean, what would it take for the news people to just laugh and say "that's totally wrong and ridiculous"? He could probably say the world is really flat and Obama flattened it and they'd let it go. HuffPost is the only one that adds a tagline to every Trump article: "Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S. "

Maybe this counter argument will work better - Trump is so stupid, hateful, crazy and dangerous that anyone in a position to rig the election will try. So? :D
