That's why trump is the perfect (gag) reflection of wingnut Amurka. Say shit that everyone in the room knows is utter bullshit, then listen to the wild cheers of approval from the inbreds. Willful suspension of disbelief is great full while you're killing a couple' hours watching Star Wars; not so much when you're voting for the next person to have access to all US nuclear weapons.rstrong wrote: . . . So far, understanding that we'll never be unanimous on each item, the list includes:Vrede too wrote:So, I've done my share of beating up on Hillary, but she also has a wealth of experience and positive attributes. We're all gonna get in debates about her over the next few months, so let's list what they are besides 'She's better than Trump (or any other Republican)' - perhaps the most important thing, but a pretty low bar to set.
She's better than Trump (or any other Republican). It really doesn't matter if she's the Devil's concubine or if she's the reincarnation of Tammany Hall.

Really no worse than Colin Powell and really, really no worse than Jeb!

Tried to get us universal healthcare 23 years ago, and took a truckload of unwarranted personal heat for it.
Has always kept fighting effectively no matter what was thrown at her.
Once having left Arkansas she never went back ("probably" a positive for her and Arkansas).
Hillary has the most directly applicable professional experience of most any other Presidential candidate, ever. And in all those jobs, she has done a competent job.
Building relationships and bridges. Hillary understands that.
Will try to overturn Citizens United and increase transparency in campaign funding.
Corrupt but competent, not slimy and shoddy.

Good DNC speaker lineup.
Fluent in Spanish VP pick.
Long time children's advocate.
Most progressive Dem Platform ever.
The Supreme Court!!!
Would be our 1st female Head of State, thus catching us up with several Muslim nations.
Mythological.
Better option for having access to all US nuclear weapons.

Hillary will still be in command of the Secret Service and other White House staff. Bill's interns will wear formal attire, conservative colors and a red laser dot.

Re: Hillary
BTW, that "$600 haircut" was an "estimate" by the gossip web site of Rupert Murdoch's heavily Republican-aligned "New York Post." In other words it was simply made up by a publication well known for simply making stuff up. No competent investigative reporter would repeat the claim. You on the other hand....
In any case, why not get an expensive haircut? That doesn't set her apart from other Presidential candidates. (Well, except for Bernie.) The only difference is that Republicans, Fox and Trump DEMAND IT, because she's female. They all had a sanctimonious hissy fit when Hillary and Elizabeth Warren both wore blue - completely different outfits, but both blue - on stage together. Ignoring that a dozen Republican candidates were regularly appearing on stage together wearing the same outfits in the same color.
It reminds me of when Fox News sounded the right-wing nutjob clarion call over Obama owning a home worth almost a million dollars. Using it to claim that he was "elitist" and unable to relate to the average citizen. And yet that was a low value compared to the homes of most other members of Congress, let alone the other Presidential candidates. Not that their audience had the competence to realize this.
Then Romney started $12 million expansion of ONE OF his mansions - his California beach house - including adding car elevators - IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS CAMPAIGN. Fox and your fellow right-wing nutjobs saw nothing elitist, no sir, nothing at all, about this.
And of course Fox now demonstrates just how goddamned stupid its audience is by labelling inherited-wealth Donald Trump "The Working Class Billionaire. While that audience posts fantasy memes about the other Presidential candidate getting an expensive haircut.

I don't know anything about a $600 haircut, although I seem to remember the Republicans made a big deal out of a (candidate) John Edwards haircut in 2004 or whenever. But Lady O Really's cuts (including some ummm, color enhancement) is $125 or so. So I'd think if somebody in DC or NYC gets picked to do the hair of a Presidential candidate, and probably has to travel and do it on site instead of in her shop, and is doing it for a major appearance, I'd think it would get pretty expensive. The thing is, though, that just because somebody has made it big doesn't necessarily mean they can't relate to those who aren't so fortunate. Clintons didn't come from old money, and although she was doing well in the law firm, they probably weren't really wealthy until after Bill was out of office. I think he was making $35K or so as governor. That's way different from Mittens, who never knew a day in his life that wasn't super rich. Mittens didn't even relate that well to his school-mates at Cranbrook, exclusive boys' school where everybody is wealthy. What's more, you don't have to relate that closely to someone to have an interest in helping them. F'rinstance, you don't have to be out of work yourself to know it's important to find ways to decrease unemployment. I used to complain because Bill was too much of a Republican for my taste, but little did I know at the time how far down the rabbit hole those who call themselves Republican would go.

How many $600 haircuts have you had? Or are you a "Bernie"?

I didn't see that; of course I don't watch pols in order to nit-pick about what color their outfits are so I can go blow my horn about it all over some forums page.

Your being a Fox regular, you have the competence to know all the inside scoops on political figures and how much money they spend? BTW, what in hell are you doing in Canada anyway? You should move south of the border in order to put the U.S. political figures in their rightful places; you certainly think you fill all qualifications for the job.
Not being Canadian, I have no clue as to how to begin being a nutjob, right or left. I mind my own business.
And of course Fox now demonstrates just how goddamned stupid its audience is by labelling inherited-wealth Donald Trump "The Working Class Billionaire.
Fox is Canadian? I didn't know that! Nor was I aware that Fox's largest audience were Canadians.

Probably is more expensive than Bubba's Barber Shop or Lola Mae's House of Beauty back in Arkansas.

Bottom line to all this is: Unless you're filthy rich, you don't stand a chance holding a national public office.

Well let's consider that. There are quite a few examples of people becoming House members and Senator without being "filthy" rich, but hardly any who weren't toward the upper middle. Why do you suppose that is? I'd guess the biggest reason is that a person doing a regular 9-5 job probably doesn't have the time to develop the contacts needed to run a campaign and can't afford the time off his job. I'd guess another reason is that most people wouldn't vote for a "Joe the Plumber" to represent them in Congress at any level. But if you'd like some economically disadvantaged people to get elected, how would you change the system to make that possible?
